Aloha Gang , and sorry for being so late. More games to cap and more information to back and forth so, please bare with me and my shorter writeups with less information than I like to give. But under the time constraits, I will just hit on some situational advantages I see as important. Lets get to this Bad Boy !
First my play is to take the Texas Tech -12 for 4 Unit Play. Here are some reasons why. (WINNER)
First I know that Texas Techs Def sucks and they have not stopped anyone this year. But, and this a big but to me, is the fact that they have a Def Coord. on the staff by the name of Greg McMackin. Well, unknown to many is that this coach has coach here in Hawaii, and in his time here in Hawaii under first year coach June Jones he helped the Warrior Def to a 8-4 record then on to beating Oregon State in the Aloha Bowl. This from taking a team that went 0-12 the previous year. This was the biggest turnaround in NCAA history and it was all due to the DEFENSE.
I have to believe that Coach McMackin and his experience in the WAC and also against teams like Air Force, who runs the same type of Offense, will know how to prepare for the Navy offense. He also I am sure has a bunch load of advisors to help with this game plan, as he has many affiliations with those coachs like Jones who has an unique way of coaching football.
Next, I totally respect Coach Paul Johnson as again, most arent aware of but he also coach here in Hawaii, under Bob Wagner and helped Hawaii to win the WAC and go on to defeat ILL in the Holiday Bowl. So I have nothing but respect for him as well.
But in this game, it is not about the run and the pass. To me, when I look at this game, it makes me think , its how they run and how they pass. First TT offense is not a typical Off with a good passing game. No this is a unique passing off period. This off is very similar to that of Coach Jones and Hawaii. Hmmm, I wonder is that they reason for them having the #1 Off and Hawaii #3 Off in the land. Well, probably, but this reason is why I also like TT and this pass off. They can simply score, and score, and score. Even if they make a mistake, they can come back from it. And that is something that Navy cant afford to do, make any mistakes. As we all know no matter how hard you try , mistakes and turnovers do happens.
Next, BJ Symon homecoming and audition for the NFL, big motivation for him to go out a big winner.
Lastly, it will be easier to stop Navy and its QB Candeto, then it will be to stop the TT Off. In games where Navy lost , QB Candeto rushed for only 55 yards. This to me is another example of where , if he goes down , so does the team. Just like as I called it last night , take out Smoker and make him less effective, and the team will follow. I have to think that the Def coordinator for TT Coach McMackin will have a good plan to stop Candeto. He has the experience , he has the influences at his disposal to call upon. It just leads me to think that he is smart enough to use it, and get TT back to prominance with this Bowl win with a big game.
Ok, I know that this short and some of this I couldnt fully back my feeling, but I feel good about my selection here. And remember, I know that who has the run advantage to the pass , in bowl games win by a 79%ats. But still, they were mostly based on teams unlike these two, in that these two run very different and unique styles of Off. But, the advantage and different style of Off is overwhelmingly with TT and their high flying, wide open, quick scoring, spread off. Still, I see the defense of TT being the unsung heroes in this game by slowing not stopping the Off of Navy, enough for us to get the cover. Again take TT -12 ov Navy. GL to all and lets get this Bad Boy. Aloha CC.
