I posted this the other day and will do it again for anybody that cares but I religiously follow these rules in hoops w/o even thinking about it and it wins on a regular basis already twice this week took a push to a win.

I always buy in 3 situations

1) Side buy down on a whole number for a fav (example -5 to 4.5)

2) Side buy up on a dog with a 1/2 pt (example +5.5 to +6)

3) Total when playing the under always buy up from a 1/2 pt (example 192.5 to 193)

I always buy in these situations because of the value you are getting 1.5 pts for the cost of a .5 point.
