What do you guys think about start running backs? I'm drafting 5th in the first round which means I likely won't get the pick I want, Maurice Jones Drew.

So, I'll likely have 3 options:

Westbrook
LT
Deangelo Williams

I'm worried about taking LT as his production last year was low and that Sproules kid is gonna give some competition. So its between Westbrook and D Williams.

If your not picking until 5th I would take Fitzgerald. The value at RB is gone with the first three picks and quality receivers are really hard to come by. The RB's in the second round will offer better value than in the first if you can't get one of the first three. D'angelo Williams is clearly the choice if you feel you must draft a RB with that 5th selection in the first round. Westbrook will most certainly get injured again sometime this year and they have to be wanting him to share the load with McCoy just to save his legs this year. Tomlinson could return to being the man again but with San Diego's very soft schedule they should end of with good leads late in games and with quality backups like Sproles and Bennett, you have to believe they will be toting the rock late in games getting all the garbage yards and TD. Williams will very like be much lower in production this year but is still the best option of those three. Take Fitzgerald first and look at Slaton or Pierre Thomas with number two. If they are both gone pick up a Greg Jennings or Calving Johnson or even Reggie Wayne with number two. No one will be able to match your WR production and you will be able to find productive RB's later in the draft like Ray Rice, Lesean McCoy or Felix Jones.

Good Luck!

I wouldn't take Westbrook or LT. Westbrook always seems to be dinged up, and you are correct on LT. I would look at S Jackson or Gore at 1.5, with a lean to S Jax if it is a PPR league. Neither will split time, which places them ahead of C Johnson and D Williams. I wouldn't consider a WR at that pick.

i picked 4th in my draft and took steven jackson. if he doesn't get hurt (big if), he's a stud. led the nfl in yards per game last year.

I ended up with Deangelo Williams. almost convinced everyone not to take Michael Turner (that he was injured last night) but one guy didn't show up to the online draft and it autopicked #2. Pretty funny
