[h=1]Donald Trump closes the Mexico border (for 50 minutes): Immigration facility shut as he tours Texas entry point and says 'fantastic' Hispanics don't want illegals either[/h]
  • Republican White House frontrunner went to Laredo, Texas, to inspect border security
  • All departures from US to Mexico were stopped as he visited and he praised Border Patrol for their work
  • Spoke of his good ratings from Hispanic-Americans in the poll in olive branch after 'rapists and murderers' row
  • But doubled down on need for strong borders saying: 'You have to have a wall. You have to have legals coming through.'
  • Applauded by federal agents at a meeting with them - and also said it was 'a great danger' to be there but 'I love the country, I have to do this.'

Donald Trump came face to face with the Mexican border today in a bid to mend fences with American's 'fantastic' Hispanics - but said the nation must act on illegals crossing into the U.S.
During a full-throttle, whistle-stop tour of the border town of Laredo in Texas, Trump - wearing a white 'Make America Great Again' baseball cap – did his utmost to improve relations with the Hispanic community, following controversial comments that Mexican illegal immigrants included 'rapists' and 'murderers'.
And he managed to close the border - albeit only for 50 minutes, as he toured a Department of Homeland Security immigration facility, which was closed while he was there.
It meant there was a line waiting to cross - albeit from the United States to Mexico, rather than coming into the country.
Holding out an olive branch to Hispanic Americans, he said: 'I employ thousands and thousands of Hispanics, I love the people, the Latinos, they're great, they're workers, they're fantastic people and they want legal immigration, they don't want illegal immigration with all the tremendous amount of crime.'

Trump, 69, said he is ahead in the GOP polls, but 'more importantly', he said, 'I'm way way ahead with the Hispanics.'
'I have a great relationship over the years tens of thousands of Hispanics have worked for me,' he said.
The Republican presidential candidate swept in to Laredo on his Trump 757 jet just before 1pm.

Around 30 or so protesters from the local chapter of the League of United Latin American Citizens, or Lulac, had gathered outside holding both American and Mexican flags and waving anti-Trump banners, but didn't sour the mood.
One banner read: 'Donald Trump's hair is illegal', but demonstrators - and equally supporters - were outnumbered by reporters and broadcast journalists.
Trump stopped briefly to answer questions in the lobby of the airport and one reporter asked if he thought it was a 'great danger' to be here in Laredo.

Trump replied: 'They say it's a great danger but I have to do it, I love the country, there's nothing more important than what I'm doing.
'I'm the one that brought up the problem of illegal immigration and its a big problem, it's a huge problem.
'We have to have legal immigration, we have to get legal immigration in.'
Trump also slammed Rick Perry saying he did a 'terrible job' as Governor of Texas.
Under Perry, he said, the border security was 'terrible', adding that the new governor, Governor Greg Abbott was doing a 'great' job.
Dozens of police officers on motorcycles blocked traffic and escorted the Trump campaign entourage through the streets of the tiny border town.
Two chartered buses filled with more than 100 members of the press followed close behind.
Trump was whisked to the Laredo World Trade Bridge where the billionaire held a press conference overlooking the border crossing.
A stream of traffic snaked behind him all waiting to enter the U.S. from Mexico. Police blocked off the Mexico bound traffic for 50 minutes as Trump toured the border control facility.

Speaking under a gazebo to shelter from the intense heat, he said border fences were important to to stem the flood of illegal immigrants.
'In certain sections you have to have a wall, and by the way the wall will save you a tremendous amount of money, but absolutely there are areas where you have to have the wall,' he said.
'There's a problem with illegals coming through, in this section it's a problem, in other sections it's a massive problem.
'You have to make the people that come in...they have to be legal.'
Trump said he was 'surprised' by the 'warmth' of the welcome he received on arriving in Laredo. 'We just landed and there were a lot of people at the airport and they were all in favor of Trump and what I'm doing, I mean virtually everyone that we saw there was such a great warmth I was actually surprised.'
Praising the border control officers he continued: 'I think these are tremendous people they are doing a tremendous job.
'You have to let the border patrol do their job, they want to do their job, that's why they invited me, I didn't come here.
'The border patrol invited me because they have such a problem. If they can't do their job, believe me, they are unhappy.'
Trump had been scheduled for a tour with U.S. border patrol agents but at the 11th hour, while Trump was in the air, the local Texas union of Border Patrol officers announced it was pulling out of the meeting.
Instead he spoke to a small gathering of border patrol officers at a local reception hall where he thanked them for their work and was met my applause as he left the room.
Addressing the crowd, Mr Trump said of the officers: 'They wanted to be here and they have been amazing and they just wanted to do their job, they are incredible men and women and they just want to do their job.'
He added that it was a 'real honor' to have the border patrol officers show up to see him, adding, 'I will not forget it.'
He said it was also important to him that he employs thousands of Hispanics and over the years tens of thousands.
'I lead the poll by a landslide with the Hispanics which is a great honor.'
He had announced the trip on Wednesday saying he was 'invited by the Border Patrol' because 'I'm speaking up.'

Demonstration: Grammatically dubious posters were deployed to make an attempt to disrupt Trump's visit

But Hector Garza, president of the National Border Patrol Council Local 2455 chapter, issued a brief statement Thursday morning saying: 'After careful consideration of all the factors involved in this event and communicating with members of the National Border Patrol Council (NBPC) at the National level, it has been decided by Local 2455 to pull out of all events involving Donald Trump.'
He said the border with Mexico is 'not secure,' and an 'honest discussion' is needed with the American people.
But he expressed concern that a meeting with Trump would have been portrayed as an endorsement.
The whirlwind three hour trip comes as Trump dominates the Republican presidential contest - both in the polls and in the headlines.
He sparked a fierce debate among Republicans last month when he referred broadly to Mexican immigrants as criminals and rapists.
He angered many Republicans this weekend by questioning John McCain's status as a war hero. And on Tuesday, he escalated a verbal war with Lindsey Graham by releasing the South Carolina senator's cell phone number.
Fellow GOP presidential candidate Rick Perry blasted Trump's campaign stop on Thursday morning in a statement.
'I hope he will explain to the Hispanic Americans he meets why he thinks they are rapists and murderers,' the former Texas governor said. 'It's going to take more than a day trip for him to convince the American people he is anything but a hypocrite when it comes to border security.'

He's right!! A lot of us legals WANT a wall and ILLEGALS OUT. Why?? BECAUSE ITS NOT FAIR THAT WE WORKED HARD FOR THE "AMERICAN DREAM", AND ILLEGALS GET EVERYTHING HANDED TO THEM ON A GOLD PLATTER as a thank you for breaking the law. NOT AT ALL FAIR.

Pop out a few babies and you get a benefits, fake I.D.'s created, and the ones we have to support in jail and the cost of "due process" when they shouldn't even be here? That is WHAT the sheeple agree to pay for by not standing up to those in government who side with the lawbreakers. Illegal entry is breaking the law.

Oh they get licenses all right. Perfectly valid licenses, too. Since AB60 took effect here in January of this year, the CA DMV has issued 397,000 drivers licenses to illegals. This number out of 759,000 issued total. More than half of CA drivers licenses issued this year were to illegals! And it's only July.

It;s LaRaza & all the national hispanic media coalition pretending to speak for the Latino population in the US who are trying
to dump Trump. The typical legal Hispanic trying to carve out a living feel they will benefit with a Trump victory as evidenced by
the recent nevada poll Trump mentioned.

With polled Hispanics, Presidential Candidate Trump received 31.4%, higher than his overall performance of 27.7%.
The only other Presidential Candidate to receive double digit support by Hispanics is Scott Walker with 11.4%.
