Putting $50 on Greece +650 to win it all
Did some research on this team and they simply have the best balance of chemistry and talent in the tourney. Spain and U.S. obviously are more talented but they haven't been together as long as this Greek team has. The Greeks have the guard play to really test the U.S. press and are extremely discipline defensively. Those of you investing on the U.S. -340 and up please save your money. There is no value in such a wager. This U.S. team has not proved anything thus far to recommend such a bet. They only have two bigs and lack perimeter shooting. Redd is a good open shooter, Kobe is inconsistent, and their points are either average to sub par from deep. Kidd is a huge liability and Coach K has already shown that hes not confident with him out there when things get tough down the stretch. Not including one of my favorite players Joe Johnson was a really big mistake. This should have been their 10 man rotation:
PG Paul-Williams
SG Johnson-Redd
SF-Kobe- Wade
PF-Lebron- Carmelo
C-Howard-Bosh
I would rotate them every 5 minutes (thats once a quarter) with seeing whos hot in mind (and adjust come crunch time).
Sometimes I wonder how this brain trust can continue dropping the ball. Then again the same can be said with the middle east, foreign policy, electric car, health care, etc.
What I'm going to do is bet against the U.S. each half. have to see if any of my books will be offering 2nd half bets for this to come to frution. I'll play the first game small and then start upping the ante once it gets to the big boys (Greece/Spain). I don't see this team playing consistently throughout this tournament (as they have shown thus far in exhibitons). This team has many weaknesses and European teams are to savvy not expose them.
If you have any opinions about this very subject then go ahead and appease yourself by making them known.
