Check out this story. Fairfield without three starters due to injury and suspenion and other two starters banged up. Currently Greek has Fairfield -6.5. Total is 132.1/2 and Marist ML is +240. Last friday in a similar situation with Han (second leading scorer who is suspended for this game) they lost to Rider at home 64-49. Lost on Monday with Han at Manhatten 65-60. Love the under, Marist getting points and probably some on ML.

You might want to grab a program before tonight's Fairfield University men's basketball game.
The season began with a veteran squad and high expectations, but head coach Ed Cooley is now trying to piece together enough bodies to field a lineup to face Marist at the Arena at Harbor Yard (7:30).
The Stags (12-9, 5-5 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference) will be without three starters -- including star point guard Jonathan Han, who is suspended indefinitely for a violation of team policy -- for their battle with the Red Foxes and for the foreseeable future.
In addition to Han, also missing are sophomore Warren Edney (ankle), who is in a walking cast and is done for the season, and junior center Anthony Johnson, who is also out for the season with an undisclosed medical condition.
"We have to bond together and do what we have to do," Cooley said.
A makeshift lineup will try to end a three-game losing skid and keep the Stags afloat in the MAAC. Fairfield was picked to finish second in the coaches' preseason poll behind defending champion Siena.
Fairfield is tied for fourth in the conference, along with Manhattan, Iona and Loyola (Md.).
The Stags' other starters, junior forward Greg Nero (back) and senior guard Herbie Allen (bruised left hand), are also banged up, but expected to play tonight.
Cooley said Nero, who sat out the first half of Monday's loss to Manhattan, is day to day with his injury. Allen

missed one game with his injury, but was back against Manhattan even though he was less then 100 percent. The status of Han, who was a preseason candidate for MAAC player of the year, for the rest of the season remains in limbo.
"We will look at it after this weekend," said Cooley, whose team host Loyola on Sunday.
Cooley said Monday night's postgame incident involving Han and an assistant coach was not the only reason for the discipline.
Without Han (12.5 points per game), Edney (9.7 ppg) and Johnson (9.2 ppg), the Stags are without their second, third and fourth leading scorers, respectively. Johnson also leads the team in rebounds (7.4 per game) and blocked shots (43).
The loss of players means the Stags will be counting on Nero (team-high 13.2 ppg), Allen and a collection of first- and second-year players to right the ship and try to salvage a season that suddenly appears on a downward spiral.
After a 1-3 start, Fairfield won seven straight before holiday break and looked poised to challenge Siena for the conference crown. But injuries -- starting with Edney's Achilles' tendon and then ankle problems -- have thrown the Stags a curveball.
Sophomore Yorel Hawkins has stepped up at small forward in Edney's absence, averaging 7.7 points and 6.4 rebounds in nine starts, but now other players will need to follow in his footsteps.
Freshman Ryan Olander and junior Mike Evanovich figure to see more time up front with Johnson out, while freshmen Sean Crawford and Jamal Turner and sophomore Lyndon Jordan need to offset the loss of Han. Evanovich and Jordan are expected to be the starters.

No doubt, the Stags are a mess both physically and mentally. Their implosion appears to be in an advanced state.

HISTORY LESSON: Since joining the MAAC, Marist has posted a record of 14-9 against Fairfield. The Red Foxes had a five-game winning streak against the Stags snapped in the teams' second meeting last season. The last five meetings between the teams have all been decided by seven points or less.

I'm feeling good about Marist bros!

Han not having that great a year, turnover machine...can score it from deep and dish it but that's it..Edney whatever...Johnson will be missed. Fairfield was overrated before the season now they will use these injuries as an excuse. Still wouldn't play Marist on the road but the spread is a little more generous than I would have guessed.Just realize you're playing an extremely turnover prone team with no big guys to make Fairfield pay for their injuries. Marist is a one-trick pony and you're basically just betting they will be hitting 3s on the road against a team that has defended the 3 well this year. Good luck.

Bit late to the party but I'm on board at +5 and some +185 on the ml.

I attribute Marist's little tailspin to that horrible loss at home to Siena. Good spot for them here.

Sienna is a beast.
Not for nothing guys, Vegas knows all about Fairfield, they didn't make them favorites for no reason.
I'm staying far, far away from this game, I smell something very fishy, I hope I am wrong, and you all cash, but that little birdie in the back of my head says "Fairfield wins this going away"

And the little birdie is usually correct.

Don't quite understand your post. Yes Siena is the best team in this conference by a margin. Marist led by something like 10 points in the final 3 minutes before blowing it and eventually losing in OT. I think that mentally took its blow and has caused them to slip since then. But that type of performance shows this team is capable.

And c'mon with the "vegas know something". They know nothing. If they knew something they wouldn't have opened the line at 6.5. Fact is they probably didn't realize Fairfield would be missing several key players.

Fairfield without these players are going to struggle, a lot. Not to mention the mental state of the team. I can't imagine they are in good spirits. Line should be 2 or 3, if that. I expect Marist to win tonight.

Just saying the people who set lines know all about injuries and suspensions.
I live 2 miles from the campus, and these injuries and suspensions are almost a week old now.
In my opinion, and it's just that, an opinion, this is a big, fat trap.
I know some of you don't believe in trap games, but I smell something realy fishy here.

You're giving too much credit to the oddsmakers. They are not gods. They are gambling degenerates like many here. They don't have their pulse on the roster of Fairfield. They were lazy here. There's no way Fairfield should have opened 6.5 favorites. The line will close at 3 or worse. No oddsmakers goal is to have one sided action and a line move of 3+ points. I'll fall for that "trap" any time. Keep trapping me oddsmakers.

How many Division I games are there tonight?
You mean to tell me, oddsmakers have the time to 'cap tonights very light schedule.

Nothing specific about this game but as for the Marist-Siena game Siena played real sloppy and the tight officiating on carries really hurt them...Marist is sooooo tough at the McCann Center no matter how bad they are it's one of the toughest gyms in the country to get out of with a win and they predictably shot the lights out on their home rims. Team is night and day home/away..they're not very talented, they have some good shooters but no type of inside presence and if Derezin isn't getting in the lane and finding the open man they don't have many other ways to score. I'm not sure how Fairfield will adjust with all these injuries it may be the right side but for my money Marist is unplayable on the road, you just can't trust them to really hang with anyone in my eyes.

absolute - wish I could give a strong opinion on the over/under but it's hard to predict with all the injuries..I think you're on the right side as I can see Marist struggling to knock down shots and with Fairfield injuries they could struggle to get into a rhythm...Under ordinary circumstances I'd probably say over but I would lean to the under here.

this game is a pass to me though I must say at 4 Fairfield is starting to look enticing...I figured it would open 4-5 so we'll see I guess.

billhill, just think. Why would they want to bring out a line that was obviously going to trigger one sided action? Nobody who researched the game was going to bet on Fairfield -6.5...NOBODY.

So they wanted everyone to bet Marist +6.5 in hopes of what? Trapping them into good equity and of chance of middling the game after the line expectedly dropped like a rock?

this same exact thing happend Jan. 23rd Fairfield vs Rider and rider fucked em up but of course rider is a much better team than marist. Fairfeild was dead the first half only scoring 19 while Rider put up 32. 2nd half though they scored 30 and rider only scored 34. But still they lost in the same scenario. I would think vegas has adjusted accordingly but you never know. Maybe just play a first half marist to be safe? But either way good luck with whatever you play
