USC's main problem could be motivation. They don't have that carrot dangling in front of them of going to a postseason bowl game. Or being eligible to win the conference title. Plus their defense isn't scaring anybody nowadays. I would say an 8-4 would be a good season for this team given that Oregon, Stanford and ND are probably sure losses. Their depth issues on both lines are probably going to end up being their worst enemy.

Seeing Ttech at number 1, the recent Mike Leach book, and the Longhorn Network got my conspiracy juices flowing. I love me a good conspiracy. Here's what popped in my head. ESPN is propping up the TLN. Texas Tech with Mike Leach was a threat to Longhorn supremacy. Remember 2008 Ttech last minute victory with Crabtree scoring. The ESPN PR machine ousting Leach, who built Tech into a consistant 15-20 team, and arguably had them on the move into a more consistant top 10 team. My conspiracy is this, was it in ESPN/Texas interest to get rid of Leach (extra obstacle for Texas) for the overall success of The TLN?

Leach was a marked man in the eyes of ESPiN. Craig James got sh*t all over and you don't mess with ESPiN family and pay nothing for it. (Collateral damage issue about Brucse Feldman for helping Leach publish his book... blah blah so the story goes... and he even had the permission from ESPiN brass to "help." )
