The Jets are slightly below average in major offensive statistics and in their rushing defense. The Patriots are the most statistically balanced team in the league ranking in the upper 1/3rd in all major categories (passing and rushing offense, passing and rushing defense, etc.). On paper this game should go heavily in the Patriots favor. The Jets already pulled the huge upset in New England earlier in the season. It will be a monumental upset to see them do that twice in the same season given the disparity on paper. There is obviously a non-quantifiable factor -- Mangini(us) vs. Belichik. But StatShark thinks Corey Dillon and Laurence Maroney should pound the below average Jets rush defense. Tom Brady will be efficient, if not spectacular with a passer rating around 85. The Patriots secondary won't have Rodney Harrison but should contain Chad Pennington, who completes a high % of his passes (63% like Brady in simulations) but struggles to pass for touchdowns (average of 0.6 per simulation).
