According to NJ.com, the Eagles will try to trade up in the draft to select Heisman winning quarterback Marcus Mariota.
Here's an excerpt from the report:
“Obviously my relationship with Coach Kelly, it’d be a lot of fun to be a part of that offense and be a part of that team," Mariota said. "But for me, any team that wants me to be part of their club, I’m all for it. Whatever happens, happens, and I’m looking forward to the process.”
Last month Kelly wouldn't commit to Nick Foles as the team's future quarterback. If the Eagles do make this happen, it would please former quarterback Randall Cunningham.
Here's an excerpt from the report:
"From No. 20, it's certainly not going to be easy,'' said the person, who requested anonymity because he wasn't authorized to speak on the subject. "It's probably going to take moving up twice to do it. There's going to be some wheeling and dealing involved.''
Asked if he thought it could happen, the response was telling.
"Can it happen?'' he asked. "I don't know. But they're going to try.''
The obvious reason for the Eagles' interest involves head coach Chip Kelly. Kelly recruited Mariota to Oregon and was his coach for the first two years. Just a few days ago Mariota was asked about a possible reunion.
