This here match up is one never could have imagined 5 or 6 weeks ago. But this is the NFL and paraity in the leauge is clearly evident. I have watched every Eagles game that has been played in the past 15 years and consider myself rather knowledgeable when it comes to this team. Everyone's immediate reaction draws them to think of the game previously played this year on Thanksgiving. That game resulted in a 48-20 win for the Eagles. You have to factor in everything that affected the outcome of that game. The Cardinals had just came off a loss to the Giants in an extremely hard fought game. They then had to Philadelphia on 3 days rest and play a very and i mean very pissed off Philadelpia Eagles team. The previous week, the Ealges just got embarassed by the Ravens and just benched their face of the franchise QB McNabb. The circumstances just did not line up well for the Cardinals and that was clearly evident as the Eagles destroyed the Cardinals in that game. Now I am not saying throw that game away but to compare what happend in that game would not give you an exactly correct read of what really is going to happend this Sunday.

Eagles Offense vs. Cardinals Defense
We all know how great the Arizona D has been playing since the start of the playoffs. I will take no credit away from them what so ever but I think their has been a trend the past two games that will change this coming Sunday. The two teams the Cardinals have faced so far were run first, throw second teams. Alanta with Turner and Carolina with Stewart and Williams. I think both the Falcons and Carolina game planned heavily on pounding the rock and relying on the play action to hit it deep. Credit to Arizona for stopping the run in both games but we all saw what happend in the Carolina game. TO's obviously made Carolina abandoned their strength which is the run game and resort to the air which is clearly not their strength. Falcons with a rookie QB on the road in the playoffs just spells disaster which was basically what occured. Matt Ryan did not play to the level he was in the regular season and I think that had partly to do with the lack of running game they were able to create. The difference with the Eagles is they are not a run first team, they are pass first team. Andy will game plan with the pass first and incorporate the run just to keep the Cardinals honest. I think this game plan attacks the weakest part of the Cardinals defense which is their secondary. While they have a ton of athleticism with Rolle, Rodgers-Cromartie and Wilson, they lack experience esp. playoff experience. Wilson is a great safety but I would consider him more of a run stuffer than a pass defender. The reason I think this secondary will be exploited is because of the lack of pass rush Arizona will be able to create on McNabb. The Eagles O-line has kept McNabb fairly clean against really formadible d-lines in Minnesota and NY Giants. I consider these D-lines far better than anything Arizona puts out on the feild therefore McNabb should have plenty of time to throw the ball which will cause holes in the Arizona secondary. Also, Westbrook has not really had a breakout game yet this playoff. I know he had a 71 yard screen pass for a TD but if you eliminate that play he has had a very medicore playoff so far. I really look for Andy to spread Westbrook out to the slots and have him moving in motion to create mismatches in the pass game. Overall I would have to give the very slight advantage to the Eagles Offense over the Arizona Defense.

Cardinals Offense vs. Eagles Defense
I believe this is the most important part of the game for either team, if they want to advance to the Super Bowl. The Eagles defense has given up an avergae of 11 points in the past 8 games, while Arizona has lit up the scoreboard the past two playoff games. Something has to give here? Arizona has recently discovered a run game with Edge, which has opened up their extremely dangerous air attack. The Eagles just shut down arguably the two most dangerous rushing attacks in the playoffs, with the Vikings and Giants. I do not think Edge and the rushing attack pose much of a threat to the Eagles here. On the other hand the passing game is an obvious threat. Fitzgerald is a top 2 receiver in the game, in my opinion behind Andre Johnson. When I break this match up down, it comes down to the Eagles being able to create pressure. In a Jim Johnson defense it is obvious there will be blitzing and lots of it. He moves players all around and really leaves the QB guessing before the snap. I really think this creates a huge disadvantage for Kurt Warner. He is extremely unmobile and fragile. He will be throwing into one of the best secondaries in the leauge with Sheldon Brown, who in my opnion is one of the most underrated corners in the leauge, Asante Samuels whose play speaks for itself, Quentin Mikell also extremely underrated, and Brian Dawkins who is playing out of his mind lately. With the ability of Samuels to go one on one with Fitz and Sheldon to go one on one with an unhealthy Boldin, allows for Jim Johnson to let the dogs loose. Now what this will come down to is if the Cardinals pick it up more often than not, the Eagles will get beat. The Cardinals WR's are too good but if the rush gets to Kurt, turnovers will occur and we know what comes from that. When i look at this match-up I would have to say right now this is even. It all depends on the rush the Eagles can create.

I myslef will not be betting on this game because I do not like involving money in a game I alread have so much invested in. But I just thought i share my view of what will happen and what will need to happen for either team to succeed.

This is the single DUMBEST post I have ever read.

1) There was no mention of the crowd or environment. After the Atlanta game, their coaches told Wisenhunt (I heard this on his radio show) that it was the single most hostile environment their team played in all season long. Add in the fact that University of Phoenix stadium will have an extra 6,000 fans in its "Bowl Configuration," and the Cardinals will have a huge advantage getting off the line and hopefully rushing the passer.

2) How can you say that McNabb is going to have all day long when the Cardinals are putting as much pressure on the QB as any other team in the League. With Berry, Smith, Leboy, Dockett, and Watson, this team has about 7 different linemen they are able to rotate in to keep their guys fresh.

3) Jim Johnson has gotten the better of Warner in their past match-ups. But you keep talking about the blitz. Do you understand that Warner has a passer rating that is 15 points higher against the blitz then he does when teams do not blitz?

4) Im glad you are so confidant about your CBs. You never mentioned the fact that Mikeel hurt his knee and wont be 100% for the game. Your myopic views fail to realize that Dawkins is slowing by the day and is no different then the player you described Wilson as.

5) Andy Reid has choked in 4 of his 5 NFC Championship games. Just because the Iggles won the last one they are in doesnt mean this guy somehow magically learned to coach in big games or even handle the clock in a game that isnt under complete control.

6) Westbrooke hasnt had his breakout game because he is HURT. If you watched games for the last 15 years, then I would imagine you would be able to tell that he is obviously playing on a gimpy leg and his explosiveness it nowhere where it was in Week 13ish.

I understand you are really proud of your Eagles and the performance they have put on to end the season, but you have provided the single dumbest post in the history of the RX with your slanted one-sided views. Hell, you arnt even having them cover, and you gave them every single advantage other than Fitz. Its sad that someone might not know enough about the NFL and would come read this garbage. The secondary of the cardinals has gone on the road and beat the Panthers who were undefeated at home with DRC shutting down Steve Smith. Now he is too inexperienced to guard Jackson or Avant? Youve got to be kidding me. If you want to speak down about the Cardinals, please bring up something like the fact that the pass protection and running game was much better with Spach in the line-up. Speak about their poor special teams at times. Dont fill us up with the garbage homer stuff that is so often seem coing from Philly Fans.

Everyone keep on bitching about McNabb and Reid. The fact is when it is all said and done Eagles will win the Super Bowl and Reid will be the greatest coach in Eagles history along with McNabb as the Greatest Eagles Quarterback in Team history and a future Hall of Famer. So keep your dumbass comments coming............

oh yeah Plaxico, Donovan was trying to call you on the Giants sideline last game and he wanted to thank you for shotting yourself.

louholtz - good health on this game

don't give too much credit to the protection Donovan had vs the Giants, their D has not been the same lately, especially with a one legged Justin Tuck

Westbrook is hurt, don't think he can have a breakout game

Ok ICC you are clearly a Cardinals homer and clearly have a hard on because the Cardinals actually are in the playoffs and playing good football. Settle down buddy. You are upset that I brought up points that put your cardinals down and now your acting like this Cardinals team is the best thing since sliced bread, slow down my man. They have won 6 playoff games since 1947 and 2 of them have been this year, now all of the sudden cardinals fans come out of the wood works. You played in a divsion with the Rams, Niners, and Seahawks or eles you would not even be in the playoffs relax.

You bring up crowd enviorment, YOU needed 3 extensions from the NFL to sell your stadium out so you didnt have a blackout against the Falcons come on dude. What the fuck kind of fans do you call yourselves when you can not even sell out a home playoff game. Thats pathetic PATHETIC esp. since this was the first time you won a division title in over 30 years. To add to this, Philly just played in Minnesota 2 weeks ago, you dont think that was loud? Crowd noise effects the tackles the most since they are the furthest away from the ball on most passing plays. You are talking John Runyan and Tra Thomas here, two vetrans who know how to play in pressure situations when the noise is loud. This aspect of the game does not worry me to much.

Your numbers with Warner having better numbers under the blitz are great. This is a defensive scheme unlike others. You ask every offensive coordinator in the leauge and I guarentee you they would say Jim Johnson is behind none when it comes to schemeing up blitzes to confuse a QB. We will see what happens this weekend about that passer rating.

I will give you that Mikell is hurt and that is an error by me. He has played great this year. He will play even if he is not 100% but if he ends up going down and Sean Considine has to play we are in trouble. But this plays back to why i said the biggest part of the game will be the pressure put on Warner. If the pressure gets there, it takes strain off of the secondary having to cover for so long. If he has to get rid of the ball early and under pressure he will throw interceptions against this secondary. We have saw this the past two weeks.

Also for you to even question the way Brian Dawkins has been playing is a disgrace. Persoanlly I think Wilson is better than Dawkins at this stage in their careers but Dawkins also has two shut down corners playing next to him that Wilson does not. Also if you think for one second Dawkins is slowing by the day and will not be up for this game you are fucking plain dumb. Dawkins has been playing off of pure emotion and will the past 8 weeks and has single handly got this team fired up week after week. I realize he is not the player he was in years past and so does he, thats why he is playing in these playoffs with such ferocity and emotion. Did you watch the post game speech with Sal Palintino when he couldn't even talk because he was filled up with so much emotion. Your blind if you think he will not be ready for this game.

As for Westbrook I realize he is a little nicked up but so is every player playing in the playoffs, IT IS PLAYOFF TIME! His lack of productivity is a mix of teams keying on so much and the lack of movement and deception of Westbrook. Also the past two teams we played in the playoffs D coordinators were Leslie Frazier and Steve Spagnola both products of Andy Reid and the eagles. They are obviously farmiliar with Reids offense and style of play calling. They knew to have any shot to win they had to shut down Westbrook and for the most part they did. I do not think there is a LB in the leauge who can stick with Westbrook and if Reid works the match ups correctly Westbrook will go off.

This is purely a pissy reaction from a cardinals fan who does not know how to act now that his team is in the NFC championship game. CDR shut down Steve Smith with a terrible Jake Delhome throwing him the ball. CDR will be a great player in this leauge no doubt.

If you look back I clearly said I give an Eagles D an adavatage over the Cardinals offense. Our defense has been playing out of control if not the best in the leauge the past 8 weeks. The numbers allow me to do nothing eles. As far as your offense over the ealges d i clearly state that if the cardinals pick up the pressure we bring on Warner we are in trouble. So how did i give every adavantage to the Eagles. This game is not going to be one sided what so ever and I know this will be a tight match-up. I just persoanlly feel when adding everything up in this game the eagles will win a tight game. You can say I am a homer blah blah blah, but the fact you acted like a such a bitch because i talked bad about the cardinals in a few aspects of the game is pretty funny.

Good Luck ICC with your cardinals and be sure to call me next time you need help selling out your stadium for a playoff game.

That's pretty rich coming from Philly Fan who was ready to fire their coach and send McNabb packing about 6 weeks ago. :ohno:

Despite all the attention that McNabb garnishes, the Eagles generally live or die with Brian Westbrook. If the Cardinals can slow him down, they'll win.

Westbrook isn't the end all be all for Philly

Westbrook doesn't have to have a good game for Philly to win it.. Take a look at the way the Eagles spread the ball around against the Vikings and Giants..
  • Westbrook is a duel threat (running and recieving)
  • Buckholder can run and catch the occasional pass
  • Curtis is like a Wes Welker.. a small and quick possesion receiver
  • Avant is having a great post season in the slot
  • Jackson is a long ball threat ...game breaker
  • LJ and Celek are two tight ends with good hands that can usually beat a linebacker one on one..
Point being.. this team has a ton of offensive weapons.. You game plan for Westbrook and your leaving one of these other guys open on just about every play.. Just ask the Vikings and Giants.. Good luck Cards fans.. Can't wait for Sunday.. Final score.. Eagles 28 -20

Well let me start first by addressing the "Where have you guys been for the last 18 weeks."

Well, we have been here cheering on the Cardinals. I know this might not catch many people by suprise, but what the hell did you want us to talk about? The Cardinals couldnt win a game on the east coast, they beat up on a shitty division, and only had one win to really hang their hat on. That doesnt seem like much of a resume for us to run around hanging our hat on. If you wanted us to be on here running our mouths when we didnt believe the team could go this far then fine, next year I will.

The facts are though that this team is completly peaking at the right time. They have a HOF QB that is coming back home to an indoor field where the Cardinals have been 13-4 under there present coach. Two of those loses have come against the defending super bowl champions. They lost to the 49ers last year on some fluke shit and also gave away the game to the Viking this year. Should we be excited now? Of course. That doesnt mean we havent cared all season long.

The Eagles are a good team. Very good team. That doesnt mean the Cardinals dont have a lot going for them in this game too. Boldin will be ready for this game after the embarrassing performance he put on for Thanksgiving Day in Philly. I also believe that Fitz had two TDs in that game if I am not mistaken.

Ok, so the Cardinals couldnt sell out their first home game against the Falcons. Ok. Cardinals fans suck. SUPRISE!!!! Phoenix fans are as a whole the worst sports fans in the entire country. This isnt any suprise. I was trying to tell that idiot ASUDevil this earlier this year. The game sold out eventually. The crowd was on fire that night. I dont think that sound is any louder if the fans are fair-weather or not. There are a lot fo fans that dont care for the Cardinals that are going to be at that game. I can guarentee you that once they Cardinals take the field they will be as loud as any other stadium. With the accoustics the stadium ahs and the roof closed, this stadium will be absoltely rocking.

I believe the Falcons went to Minnesota late in the season. I believe they stomped them too. Be careful what you are wishing for....
