McNabb McNabb.....has now lead the Eagles to 5 NFC Championship games and one Super Bowl appearance. Given the fact that Eagles were pretty much not expected to be in the playoffs 7/8 weeks ago, coupled with all of McNabb's critics/benching situation, I truly believe the Eagles will soar into the Super Bowl.

The Eagles are very similar to the Steelers in that they have under performed in their Conference Championship games but I really believe its when they host them that gives these two franchises a problem. The fact that these two cities and their fans put so much pressure on their respective teams to perform makes me think that it is to the Eagles advantage to continue to play on the road. Just like the Steelers did in 2005.

This has taken a lot of pressure of the high flying Eagles and I don't think they stop winning here. All the respect in the world to the Cards and their fans to get to this spot but the stars are aligned for the better defense and more balanced offense to make it to the big show.

As far as the Steelers....I must say that being a big fan myself the Ravens were the last team I wanted to face in the playoffs! Given the fact that we have beaten them twice already this year and we are hosting this Championship game makes me very very nervous as a fan. Obviously, I would love to see the black and gold win and make it to another Super Bowl but something tells me that I may be in store for another major disappontment.

Of course I rarely bet on the Steelers and there are times when I kick myself for not betting them like yesterday, but to all the guys here in the forum please do yourselfs a favor and do not bet this game if you are backing the Steelers. IMO the only play here is Ravens +5 or nothing. Yes the Steelers may win and cover but I would never ever lay wood with the Steelers in the AFC Championship game as a HOST against an opportunistic opponent after what I have witnessed this franchise do in AFC Championship games the last 15 years!!!!

Lets just recap some of their past AFC Championship games as a home host. Not sure of the exact years so bare with me on this......First AFC Championsip game 1994/1995 I believe and they had a top ranked defense and suspect offense against an opportunistic Charges team...result looooooooooooozer. Next up the Colts the following year and wouldn't you know it we win 20-16 and almost shit ourselves because Harbaugh throws a hail mary and they almost catch it (less than 5 guys)!! The next AFC Championship game against Elway and the Broncos......loooooooooooozer!! Next up the Patriots 2001/2002 at home another BIG FAT Loooooooooooooozer! And finally a 15-1 regular season winning team that crushed the Partriots earlier that season and wouldn't you know it a rematch in the AFC championship game again at home equals a BIG FAT LOOOOOOOOOOOOZER!!! So there you have it...if you like trends there you go 1 and 4 in the last five AFC Championship games as a host!!!

Matchups make games and I really feel like this game will be a tight one.

Good luck to all this upcoming weekend!

Last weekend was one of the toughest weekends to bet on NFL games...

This coming up weekend is more of the same for me...

Eagles may seem like an easy play because nobody respects ZONA, and yet they have proven that they can win at the right times. This Eagles team is kinda of like the Zona team...

They are similar because Eagles weren't even suppose to be in the playoffs and everybody has written them off, and yet they keep winning.

On the other hand, Zona has locked up the division, but nobody has given them a chance to win, again, they keep winning.

Something's gotta give on gameday... just can't figure which way yet...

Please note, Bill Cowher was the head coach for the most recent string of home AFC Championship game losses. I also wouldn't doubt that Belicheat had some previous game footage for two of those as well. Also, Big Ben played in one of those losses, and he was a rookie.

SteelCurtain with all due respect the fact that Cowher was the coach in those games and Tomlin is now the coach maybe a cute trend breaker but for it to be an advantage this time around is crazy to say or believe. In fact I would have to say from what I have witnessed so far in Tomlin's short tenure he hasn't really made that many great calls when he has had to thus far. For example, yesterday when he goes for it on fourth down in a tie game with the number one defense in the league on our side of the field. Not to smart if you ask me. It wasn't like we were in the fourth quarter down points.

I do think Cowher made some coaching mistakes in his tenure but the bottom line is the Steelers are good for one reason and one reason only when it comes to coaches IMO and that is Dick Lebeau. Without him then you get to see how weak or strong of a head coach Tomlin will be.

As far as Big Ben, yes you are right he was a rookie in his first championship game and his experience should be to our advantage. The New Engalnd videotape stuff is a bunch of bs to bring up if you ask me. Special teams breakdowns and turnovers is what killed us in those two games. I know but they knew what was coming because they had videotape!!! Well if thats what you think then Baltimore seeing us twice a year and knowing our schemes probably better than anyone will only keep this game tight.

iluvboguslines - I don't disagree with you, I'm just saying the Steelers past history in home AFC Championship games isn't going to matter in this one and shouldn't play into any of your handicapping. Coaches are different (doesn't matter if one is better than the other) and the current quarterback has only played in one of those and he was a rookie.

SteelCurtain - I see what your saying and that may be correct, but from a handicapping standpoint taking into consideration as I stated in my first post that the Steelers performance in the championship game as a host has not been so good should at least be considered. I consider this important to note because I really believe the players feel added pressure from the fans to win in such a big game at home with such a winning tradition that they have a tendancy to play tight not loose. The year they won it they were a six seed and played loose and I think that made a huge difference for them!

When you couple the added pressure they have as the home favorite with the Ravens knowing our schemes inside and out makes for a tight game IMO.
