Dwayne Bowe's NCAAF Week 1

I've been studying, analyzing and reading the lines and articles of this upcoming season. I've been trying to gather a public consensus and I've always found that the lines are a bit off to start the season. I'm a huge underdog bettor and this season it won't be any different.

Virginia @ UCLA:

UCLA starting the true freshman at QB Josh Rosen. I expect UVA to pressure him early with plenty of blitzes. Matt Johns is a capable QB and UVA battled last year vs UCLA losing 28-20. If the Cavaliers can manage to keep the turnovers below 2 and attempt to contain Perkins to under 125 yards, 19.5 points is a bit too much. By the way one of the players who scored a defensive TD for UCLA last year, was just arrested for robbery. UCLA has a lot of hype and expectations but this won't be a cake walk. Virginia +19.5 -106

Akron @ Oklahoma:

Akron +31. I know this is a "tune up" game for Oklahoma but their inconsistent QB play will come in to play all season. This is Akron's National Championship game right here. They can run the ball and have an offensive line full of seniors. If the Zips can put up 14-17 pts, the +31 is a gift. Akron +31 -104

Arizona State @ Texas A&M:

Arizona St is the best team in the Pac 12 IMO. They cover and likely win this game. Arizona St +3 -106

Louisiana Lafayette @ Kentucky:

Elijah McGuire will run down their throats. Lafayette +17 -105

Baylor @ SMU: SMU with a new coach, a new, fun offense and I could see them keeping it close until Baylor opens the gap in the 2H. 35 is a lot of points. SMU +35 -101

How do you explain Arizona State ranked #15 in the opening AP Poll a DOG to unranked Texas A&M.

I guessing the AP media knows more than Las Vegas line makers. I don't know about that my friend.

hostile environment, the game is being played not too far from Texas A&M so the majority of the crowd will be Aggies fans. I honestly think they should be ranked but what do I know...A&M's offense isn't the problem but it's their defense that is still a question mark for me. It should be a very close game.

Bowe, I agree with you it will be close game/dog fight. I learned a few years back not to take a ranked team as a dog over an unranked team. It has served me well moneywise over the long hall.

No guarantees in this business...but I'll play this situation every game I can.

Virginia +29.5 (+19.5) over UCLA
Arizona State +13 (+3) over Texas A&M
Louisiana-Lafayette +27 (+17) over Kentucky

I genuinely believe this teaser has a legitimate chance to cash.

Same. I think Louisiana has a good shot to win straight up as well. May sprinkle the ML or 2nd half ml if it's close. If there was a game that is the most likely to lose with a gun to my head I'd say Virginia. If UCLA gets rolling and this true freshman has the game of his life then it could turn ugly. But that's doubtful.

I see where Phil Steele is making ASU his Underdog Play of the Week in his Powersweep Newsletter.

Love him or hate him, Steele wins quite a few of these Underdog Play of the Week newsletter plays.

I may put a couple of hundred on the Sun Devils now as a live dog.

Looking hard at Minnesota right now vs TCU. Will be back in a bit with a play.

Adding: Minnesota +16.5 -106. Risking $318 to win $300.


I was in a toss up of whether to take them first half or full game. I think Minnesota has a great chance of a backdoor vs covering the 9.5 at half. I have to fade the hype and money of TCU. I think TCU wins by 9-11 pts.
