Anybody dabble in this game?

I would usually only play this game in a mixed game format. Just recently in the new 8-Game mixed tourneys they have at Stars. I was noticing the easiest damn money in that game was in duece to seven. Idiots standing pat with an Ace thinking it's low.(I've seen this multiple times) Calling raises and then drawing 3 cards. It's unbelievable.

Figured I would give the actual game a shot and sat down at the NL table and have doubled my account twice in the last two weeks. The people playing had a little better grasp of the game than the ones playing the 8-Game tourneys but still ridiculous play. Guys pushing all in and then drawing 2 cards. I found it amazing how bad the play is at these games. There is awful play at NL Hold em as well obviously but this is a much more straight forward game than HE. Wondering if anyone else plays this gem of a game and found the same thing?

I was playing the mixed games the other day and pretty much just sitting out during the 2-7....i read about it in Super Systems but never even learned the basics. But i get dealt 3 cards below a 7 and their not connected so i call and end up with 5 of em, still not sure what i got. Guy makes a bigbet on the end and i just call.
He cussed me for 5 mins for just calling with the nuts!!! Finally i just had to tell him i wouldnt have known the nuts if it flashed on the screen.....lol
I get the same thing in Razz..guys calling raises with a K showing, etc...

what limits are you playing?

The only NL tables available at Stars are .25/.50 Seems small but average pot is probably around 12-15 bucks. But 40 dollar pots are not out of the question. Have also hit the 2/4 fixed limit tables as well.

I'm sure with any game the higher you move up in stakes the more solid the players are but there's no reason to play higher limits when you can run over the NL game.

Exactly. I'd love if the local casinos had mixed games. Too many people obsessed with hold em. I think one casino has a omaha hi/lo tournament, but that's about as far off hold em as you'll get. No other games at all..

Ummm, there is a reason why the games are so easy then Salty. I thought you were playing 1/2 NL and up or if it was fixed, it was 3/6 at least.

No point in playing .25/.50

They don't have 1/2 NL available for triple draw. Not sure if you caught that part of my statement. The rest are all fixed.

Like there is a huge difference between 2/4 and 3/6. I've easily made more money on the NL tables.

Anyways, it's all good. I got no shame in mopping up on smaller limits. Money is money.

well for one thing, 2/4 and 3/6 fixed limit games play a lot higher than .25/.50 nl even if pots average 12 dollars and sometimes go to 40 dollar pots.

The thing is most pots in limit fixed will be like $20 pots at least in 2/4 fixed. Yes NL is probably easier to beat i agree

Well the higher you move up, obviously the harder it should be. There is a small difference in 2/4 fixed and 3/6 fixed and 3/6 plays a bit better. When you start playing 5/10 and up, you notice its much harder.

Yeah, I hear you.

I guess my point was, you can play lower/middle limit Hold em and be much more susceptible to getting run down by awful players and bad play. This game is much more straight forward and not as easy for bad players to outdraw you, thus more profitable.

Appreciate the feedback dynamite..
