me and ms. drunkguy (actually not my wife [yet] contrary to popular belief
) just got back a few hours ago. I only have a few brain cells left, and even those are on their last leg, so I better get some of this down in print before I lose them:
Most surprising poster: THE GENERAL. I don't think any of us first-timers were expecting what we got. I think the consensus before seeing him was that he was 65 years old.
Most free drinks from: PANTHER. Man, this guy would not let me pay for a drink if he was within 100 yards of me. He must have bought me and ms. drunkguy a dozen drinks before the party. If I was down at the other end of the bar ordering drinks, somehow he would see me and grab the bartender so he could pay for it. Thanks man!
I also have to give honorable mention to the RX for buying the bottle of Crown Royal that I probably finished single handedly during the bash
Mr.Dual Personality: RAIDERS. In person, he was the total opposite of how he is posting. Very friendly guy. I was very surprised he even showed, and even more surprised to see him hanging out with FISHHEAD, SHACK, and other forum "arch-enemies"
RX DRUNK OF THE YEAR: FISHHEAD. Everyone else voted for KERMIT, but FISHHEAD got off on the right foot when I first met him. Someone introduced us in the sportsbook, and he yelled out "DRUNKGUY!" and started hugging me like I've known him forever. Then he stopped and said "Wait a second, you're always giving me shit on the forum!" He was a little less excited to see me after he figured that out
. His incoherent speech at the party was an instant classic.
Straighest shooter: GAMEFACE. He definitely tells it like he sees it and doesn't pull any punches. Ms. drunkguy figured that out when he almost got into a brawl at the Nugget blackjack table after someone criticized him for not hitting a 14
(the other guy got booted for being an asshole, so not GAMEFACE's fault)
Most talked about people who didn't attend: SICK GAMBLER, PLASMAMAN/HTRC, and UNCLE B. Everyone was disappointed these 3 didn't show. On Sunday, people were still wondering if SICK was going to show up.
BIGGEST POKER SURPRISE: TIE(1) PANTHER cleaning up early. When the tourney was about halfway done, you couldn't even see panther behind all his chips.(2) MS. DRUNKGUY, the only female entry (I think), finishing 15th
LEAST SURPRISING POKER RESULT: DRUNKGUY finishing at the bottom. At first I thought I tied for last, but TEKARI told me a person or 2 got kicked off his table earlier, so I guess I will have to settle for 3rd last
Most historic event: FISHHEAD losing at video poker on Sunday. Since we know this only happens 1% of the time, this was an RX "Kodak Moment". And no, fish, I am not going to go easier on you now that I met you
Most surprising bash attendees (besides raiders): I sniffed out some spies from major wager, THE ACTUARY and COUNT ZERO, Cool guys, but not sure if many others saw them.
Shortest appearance at the party: KOSAR. He must have been partying early, because he only stopped by the bash real quick and then stumbled off, luckily under his own power.
Best redemption: PPETER knocked me out of the poker tourney early. I had gone about 2-5 on baseball Saturday, and the last game on the board was a CFL game. I remembered ppeter saying something about liking SASK and the over, so I parlayed it as a late bail-out move. Good call ppeter, even though you knocked me out of the tournament, you saved me some cash!
Other great guys that I has a blast talking to: SHACK (looking forward to your football picks, man), DANTE (congrats on winning the panther cash giveaway!), BIGBET, CEDARCREEK, THE GENERAL, BUCSFAN, if I left you off, sorry but my brain is running on empty.
And thankfully it wasn't the freakshow I thought it would be. Ms. drunk was a little scared of going to the party, but she had a great time and enjoyed meeting all you guys!
