I hesitate starting a new thread on the SD vs Pitt game, but I feel this is important.

You guys should not be complaining to Goodell. I'm talking about those who want to yell from the highest mountain that this game was fixed.

You just fuel his desire to get rid of gambling on sports. I know you guys think the NFL wants gambling, but trust me, they want no part of it. So if you bitch enough, he can say, "see, if gambling weren't in the picture, nobody would think it's fixed. They'd realize it was simply a butchered call."

Guys, there were horrible calls before. And they had nothing to do with gambling.

The Dallas Hail Mary game in 1975 had nothing to do with gambling. Just a missed call.

The 1998 FIASCO between Buffalo and New England, where the officials made up 3 HORRIBLE calls in a row to let New England score.....and yes, it affected the spread when Wade Phillips got mad and took his team off the field and then Pete Carroll decided to have Vinateri walk the snap in for 2 points.....those were simply blown calls. Although you could argue with me on that one LOL.

The missed blow to the head of David Garrard yesterday on that INT before Tenn put it away......just a missed call.

The Immaculate Reception in 1972....Just a controversial call. Not even sure it was a bad one.

The New England vs Oakland "Tuck Rule" bullshit....Hell, even Raider fans admit that had nothing to do with gambling. They simply think the league was out to fuck the Raiders.

The point is, don't do this. Don't give Goodell the ammunition he needs to go to congress to fuck your right to gamble.

I realize I'm going to get some, "Oh, the NFL cannot survive without gambling..." response. REALLY? You think they believe that? They have seen the stats. Between 90% and 95% of those watching their games are simply fans or fantasy football addicts or the sort. Even though the amount of people betting has grown significantly over the years, it's still a very small percentage of the sports fan universe.

You can bitch about it here. Just don't make noise to the wrong people, if you know what I mean.

Thanks C-Lo.

I hope people take this the right way. I know and you know and the NFL knows that gambling is part of their income. But....when compared to the amounts of people that DON'T even know what minus 6.5 means (LOL) that watch these games, they know they can do without it.

And yes, there's a game or two or three that are fixed. Usually has absolutely nothing to do with gambling. More to do with "Getting Brett Favre in the Playoffs" or something like that.

isn't fantasy football just another form of gambling. If you pay to get in your league, aren't you betting that your players will perform better than the other guys. I wonder how many teams that had the Steelers defense will lose their game this week by less than 7 points.

It's not the NFL that decides if you can gamble on it, they have no say in it.

They have a POWERFUL Lobby that that just tried, 2 weeks ago, and succeeded, in getting President Bush to push through his edict that the banks must comply with the UIGEA. So they have everything to say about it. Thankfully, this law has no teeth, but it makes for more inconvenience when it stops a payment for or from you and a sportsbook. Think again.

Nice thought, I have Pitt in mine and that would have helped but im blowing out the other guy so it doesnt matter this time. Oh, I know when McNabb threw that td and the idiot dropepd it before he got in the endzone it costed one of my co-workers his week since McNabb didnt get credit for the td.

We are not talking about one missed call here.
Look at the stats from the game.
Look at pitts turnover ratio.
Look at the penalties/yards per team.
Pitt should have won by a lot more than one point.
This game was suspect from snap one. The last play of the game only shows how absolutely rigged this game was. There was no way Pitt was going to be allowed to cover this number.

The NFl has zero integrity in my eyes.

Thank you for the life lesson....

To be correct:
1. I rarely bet on the NFL
2. I rarely watch the NFL, excluding playoffs and the super bowl.
3. I definately do not support the NFL. I do not own one single item of NFL or NFL team merchandise, I do not ever pay to watch a game, and I would never consider doing so. I am a college football fan, a game which I do watch, I do bet on, and I do support. This kind of bullshit in the NFL is why I stopped supporting it years ago. But anyway thanks for the words of wisdom.

Both the QB and Coach were shocked and not happy with the touch down when you look at the replay, they are already collect the money from Vegas.

also, the Ref looked very stupid with his two hand up for the touch down signal but stop and fix his hat. he should go back to school to learn how to act, very bad actor.

if you watch the kids playing any sport in there backyard, that is true sports. if you pay to watch the game, it's entertainment. money invloved, will be fix.

True observation. Half time show in stadium says it all, if you have ever been to 1 game. NFL+WWE....just for entertainment.

Thank you for recognizing my awesomeness. You can keep the gear. A grown man in an NFL jersey is something I will never be. I'll leave that to the fanboys in Boston.

P.S. I watch plenty of football on the weekends---college football.

can you be more specific as to how the "NFL" actually benefitted from the bad call.In the NBA scandal it was the ref that benefitted not the NBA.

I never said the NFL benefitted from the last call.
I said the NFL has zero integrity in my eyes. I would have said the same thing about the NBA during their scandal but I haven't watched the NBA in 20 years. I don't know who benefitted from this bullshit, how would I know? I do know if it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck it's usually a duck. I am not one for giant conspiracy theories but as we all know and have seen in recent years the refs are corruptable in professional sports. Perhaps they were the beneficiaries indirectly but I wouldn't say that I know that for sure.
