Trump said of Ryan: 'Every day goes by I get to appreciate his genius more and more. Now if he ever goes against me, I’m not gonna say that, okay?'
The rally was held in front of several large Christmas trees and a 'Merry Christmas' sign

Donald Trump wrapped up a day that included face-to-face meetings with hip hop star Kanye West and Vogue editor Anna Wintour by wishing 'Merry Christmas' to a crowd in Wisconsin. The president-elect spoke to supporters from in front of a bank of Christmas trees in West Allis, but they booed when he said he was starting to appreciate Speaker Paul Ryan like a 'fine wine'. But Trump was also very much in the holiday spirit, and promised his administration would be built on 'jobs, jobs, jobs'. A red sign on the podium in Wisconsin said 'Merry Christmas USA' and 'Make America Great Again.'

Trump began his remarks in Ryan's home state by saying the speaker had been 'terrific,' sparking a negative response from some members of the crowd. Ryan had called off a joint appearance with Trump before the election and the two were often at odds, as when Ryan said some of Trump's campaign remarks were the 'textbook' definition of racism. Now that he is president and Ryan working to push through his agenda, Trump has seen Ryan in a new light, and defended him. 'Honestly, he’s like a fine wine. Every day goes by I get to appreciate his genius more and more. Now if he ever goes against me, I’m not gonna say that, okay?' Ryan told a crowd in West Allis, Wisconsin. Trump doesn't drink.

Ryan lauded Trump in his own remarks. 'It was before I had my driver’s license the last time Wisconsin went Republican,' said the boyish-looking speaker. 'I want to thank Donald Trump, I want to thank Mike Pence, for helping Wisconsin, Michigan, the Midwest, finally see the light of day and put a Republican back in the White House,' he said. Trump raved about his cabinet, and bragged about an unusually eclectic day at Trump Tower. 'I think it’s going to be one of the great cabinets ever, ever, ever,' he said. He said it was 'certainly a cabinet with the highest IQ.'

'Leaders and titans of industry, art, sports, science are reaching out and want to find ways to help,' Trump said. 'Today as an example in my office, the great Jim Brown. Bill Gates. Anna Wintour. Kanye. That’s right. Right, I like Kanye. Ray Lewis. We’ve had so many people,' he continued, after name checking the Cleveland Browns legend, Microsoft founder, Vogue editor, rap star, and storied linebacker who met with him just today. 'They come up and they want to be a part of what we’re doing. And we want to use everybody, we want to use all of the brain power, because we’re going to bring us – We’re going to be not only great, we’re going to be greater than ever before. You watch,' Trump said.

Trump lauded his new secretary of state pick, Exxon CEO Rex Tillerson. 'Rex is one of the greatest and most skilled global biz leaders of our time,' he said. And he defended Tillerson's ties to Russian Vladimir Putin, without mention Putin or Russia directly. 'And you, know Rex is friendly with many of the leaders in the world that we don’t get along with and some people don’t like that. They don’t want him to be friendly – that’s why I’m doing the deal with Rex, because I like what this is all about.' Trump also defended the look of his cabinet, after reports on the proportion of older white men in top positions. 'We are going to work so hard for you. We’re going have the best people in the world. And you see the people we’re getting. If you don’t mind, we won’t be too politically correct. If you don’t mind, okay? Is that alright?' he asked. Trump also said he though he lost the election when he spoke to his daughter Ivanka about exit polls on Election Day. 'I really assumed I lost. You know, I believe that these things are supposed to be correct. I sort of thought I lost, and I was okay with it. I wouldn’t say great – in fact I called my vice president. I said it’s not looking good, right Mike?' Trump said.
