"After Indiana’s primary, it is now clear that Republicans will be led into the presidential election by a candidate who said he would kill the families of terrorists, has encouraged violence by his supporters, has a weakness for wild conspiracy theories and subscribes to a set of protectionist and economically illiterate policies that are by turns fantastical and self-harming."

The Economist has lost much of its credibility over the years with the biased reporting. So there's that. But like most of the media which includes the NY Times, Huffington Post, The National Review, Glenn Beck and dozens and dozens more who gave Trump less that a one percent chance at winning at one point and have been wrong the entire way, this is nothing new.

Always nice when Indiana has a say in something. Outside of Indianapolis, you won't find much anti-Trump with those people.

What another Communist on here crawled from under his rock? www.donaldjtrump.com

The only disasters for Republicans and for America are the #NeverTrump assholes. The dirty little secret
is that the Never Trump movement was more about 'Providing Hgh Dollar Work' for the political consultants
than stopping the disaster of an Obama third term which is the result of electing Hillary Clinton.

Eric Erickson & Red State, Mark Levin on Radio, Bill Crystal of the Weekly Standard Rich Lowry
& the whole National Review Crowd are dismayed
that they have no forum for there ideas anymore & are very afraid of their future under Trump.

Even Fox lost viewers. Every time Fox does election analysis, it’s the same old neocon/Bush
re-tread faces. George Will, Charles Krauthammer, Steven Hayes, Bill Kristol, Rich Lowry, Nina
Easton, Karl Rove, etc. I know what they are going to say before they say it because they have
been saying the same falsehoods for years. Trump on the other hand is saying what many of us
peasants have been thinking all along, and judging by the petulant and immature responses
from these so called experts, their collective mask has been lifted.

does anyone ever wonder why business owners, business organizations, economically successful people, people who earn > 50k supposedly know less about growing the economy and creating jobs than union workers, welfare recipients, people living in poverty, people who earn < 50k, special interests and career politicians?

I have to be honest, I can't comprehend how others comprehend such poppycock

especially after the GD II we're living through

I many left wing predictions have to fail before reality sets in?

implement my stimulus, UE will never > 7%. It was significantly over 7% the entire term, and if the LPR remained constant, it would be > 7% to this day

I will cut the deficit in half in my first term, which means it's going to grow larger

Shovel ready jobs not as shovel ready as I thought, no fucking shit

QE I, II, and III all failed miserably

Obamacare going to reduce the deficit, improve healthcare, and you can keep your existing Dr's and plans. OMG, please stop, I'm dying here

I'm going to improve international respect, as the foreign media calls him an idiot

ISIS is contained

Punish your enemies (that being Republicans)

But love the peace loving Islam religion (who are actually trying to kill you)

the man got everything he wanted in his first two years, yet we suffered through the longest stretch of economic malaise since the GD

for the love of god, someone tell me how the left can possibly complain after fucking up everything they've fucked up over the last 7+ years

they should want some improvement somewhere, yet they choose to embrace losing

Is that directed at me?

Trump's protectionist policies would not be in the best interest of our country. I'm not keen to pretend that it isn't true simply because I don't like Hillary.

economically illiterate is the line that made me laugh

I have more wiggle room when it comes to immigration, I know DT has said some scary things

as for protectionism, we have to secure the borders

I'm for a liberal immigration policies, and by that I mean let people into the country. But I'm not for open borders, either we're a land of laws or we're not.

I don't want to deport 12 to 20 million illegals, that's not even feasible. But talking about legalizing them is wasted time if we don't secure the borders first. You don't perform open heart surgery on a patient that's bleeding to death.

So we secure the borders, we legalize non violent illegals, we expand our immigration policy.

Anchor baby laws will never change, unless the country passes a constitutional amendment to do just that. All the Trumped up concern about that is just a red herring

So while DT is not a perfect match for me, he's much closer than HC and securing the borders is a very important 1st step

Protectionism doesn't refer to immigration, it refers to trade.

I believe in leveling the playing field with other nations

I also know we live in a global economy, I don't believe government can change that, we can only make sure we're competitive as a nation and other nations don't impose one way tariffs that put us at a disadvantage

1) we keep the costs of doing business down

2) we don't let other nations put our exports at a competitive disadvantage, we reciprocate

There are two kinds of people in this world, those who sign the front of the check and those who sign the back.

I've said enough about Trump, he's the guy. Good luck to him. I'm not enough of a curmudgeon to spend 5 months bashing him. I won't vote for him (don't live in swing state either way) but if the night before the election the powers that be came to me and said "Pats we're not gonna do the voting thing this year, you got 5 minutes to pick between the two major party candidates" then I would just cross my fingers and go him.

But his trade proposals are a little more ambitious than that. Sure you can say everyone goes through the primaries and sells some BS, but this seems to be something he really thinks he can implement given he brings it up almost every interview. I'm also just not really a huge fan of telling people that you're going to bring industries back to where they live when it isn't going to happen, although I guess all politicians do promise the moon and the stars.

Him and Sanders are kindred spirits on trade based on rhetoric.
