It has been 3 days and he has not said one word about him at all....
He had a press conference on giving more money away and he would not talk about the American hostage...

This tells me he does not give two shits about us at all, only about him and his agenda...

He has no clue what to do so he just buries his head in the sand hoping it will resolve itself and go away because it is not something on his agenda...

Meanwhile the world watches and laughs at how weak we are now. How 4 uneducated terrorist/pirates are holding the U.S. hostage...

Expect more of the same in the future... Obama is so far over his head as president he has not a clue, coupled with him surrounding himself with people who have as much of a clue as he...

While I'm no big fan of Obama, I'm sure he has people trying to resolve the situation. He's the POTUS, not a hostage negotiator.

We have military in the area watching the situation with a close eye, that's already been reported by the AP.

The pirates said they will kill the captain if any attack is made on them.

You need to take your anti-idiot pills.

Punter I read your posts all the time... You never have anything of substance to add, ever...All you have to say is some wise ass comment...

How about a comment on the situation?

How do you think the situation is being handled?

Don't you think the PRESIDENT OF THE U.S. should be involved, after all it is his job to protect the citizens of this country?

He took the oath, all I am asking is he do his job....Protect his citizens!!!

One other thing: There is no way that we can allow the terrorists/pirates be allowed to meet up with their "friends" and take our citizen back to Somalia...

That is not an option!!!

Get back to us after your medication.

Like I said, you never offer anything of value... Actually you would do more good by logging off and shutting down your computer...

Your carbon footprint would lessen and you would be doing your part to stop global warming...

Gore and Obama would be proud of you...

And no I am not a repub, Dem, or Lib... Just a proud American who is very concerned about our country, unlike yourself...

T Hawk, punter and I have squared off in the past many times but I believe he is concerned about this country. I believe he fought in WW1, lol, j/k. I believe it was Vietnam maybe.

I see your point though where you got attacked for merely expressing your opinion. :toast:

"BARACK OBAMA: In America, there is a failure to appreciate Somali pirates leading role in the world.

Instead of celebrating your dynamic presence and seeking to partner with you to meet common challenges, there have been times where America has shown arrogance and been dismissive, even derisive.

America has made mistakes and has its flaws.

We're a country of different backgrounds and races and religions that have come together around a set of shared ideals. And we are still a place where anybody has a chance to make it if they try. If that wasn't true, then somebody named Barack Hussein Obama would not be elected president of the United States of America.

Somali pirates, I invite you to join me. Take your place, as global citizens, in our effort to change the world. Work with me.

So let me say this as clearly as I can -- the United States is not and will never be at war with Somali pirates.

We will listen carefully, we will bridge misunderstanding, and we will seek common ground. We will be respectful, even when we do not agree. And we will convey our deep appreciation for Somali pirates, who have done so much to shape the world -- including in my own country.

I'm not naïve. This goal will not be reached quickly—perhaps not in my lifetime. It will take patience and persistence.

Somali pirates, you must ignore the voices who tell us that the world cannot change. Yes, we can. "

MJ, I believe we’ll hear that speech over and over in the coming days, months and years. It may even become corner stone of foreign affairs. Maybe he can add one line, “we aim to appease” sounds catchy. A motto to live by. :grandmais

MJ, you'll get a kick out of this one... :):)

After maintaining his silence for two days, President Obama will soon make his first public statement about the pirate attack upon an U.S.-flagged vessel off the Horn of Africa. After several inquiries and a few well-placed bribes, Exurban League has received an early transcript of the President's remarks:

Good evening. As you know, early yesterday Somali-based pirates attacked the Maersk Alabama, a freighter carrying relief supplies to Kenya. While we do not yet know all the details, the Alabama's crew re-took control of the vessel and forced the pirates off the ship.

Since the pirates are still holding the captain, I have sent FBI negotiators to facilitate his safe and speedy release. I assure his friends and family that I will not stop until this man-made disaster is resolved in a peaceful, tolerant and ecologically-sound manner.

Obviously, this incident has raised many concerns among Americans. There have been calls for justice and even violence against the misguided perpetrators. But such an emotional reaction has led to the disparagement of entire groups with which we are unfamiliar. We have seen this throughout history.

For too long, America has been too dismissive of the proud culture and invaluable contributions of the Pirate Community. Whether it is their pioneering work with prosthetics, husbandry of tropical birds or fanciful fashion sense, America owes a deep debt to Pirates.

The past eight years have shown a failure to appreciate the historic role of these noble seafarers. Instead of celebrating their entreprenuerial spirit and seeking to partner with them to meet common challenges, there have been times where America has shown arrogance and been dismissive, even derisive.

Some of us wonder if our current Overseas Contingency Operation would even be needed had the last administration not been so quick to label Pirates as "thieves," "terrorists" and worse. Such swashbucklaphobia can lead to tragic results, as we have seen this week.

To address this issue, I have instructed Vice President Joe Biden to create a cabinet-level Czar of Pirate Outreach and Buccaneer Interrelation. In addition, June 1-7 has been designated as Pirate Awareness Week, during which all federal buildings will fly the Jolly Roger and sponsor sensitivity training. Thankfully, my American Recovery and Reinvestment Act will fund free grog and hard tack for all attendees.

Finally, to all pirates listening to international broadcasts, shortwave services and ship-to-shore radio, let me say this:

Ahoy, me regret arr relationship has set sail in a scurvy manner. Arr people share many mutual 'alues and concerns on t' raging main. Perchance, could ye handsomely release the cap'n o' the ship and I assure that no harm will come t' ye or ye hearties. Let us smite t' reset button and launch our seabond on a new pegleg. Savvy? Godspeed t' ye and t' ye beauties. Aye, me parrot concurs.

Or...

In his live press conference today on the Somali terrorists/Pirates President Obama is pleased to announce a resolution to the "dispute"...

The Somali's will let their hostage go in return for passage to the United States for them and their whole family. At this time the count is 256 people in all.

They will be processed and set up with free homes, food stamps, social security, tax credits, new hybrid cars and grants so they can start green businesses.

President Obama also said this: "I have apologized to the Somali's for our part in them being uneducated and living in a worthless country and hope that this will make it up to them and their family. It is our responsibility to take care of as many people as we can, after all everybody in the United States is rich. I also apologized for our citizens behavior while he was their prisoner, he had no right trying to escape while I negotiated his release. He put the Somali's in a position they did not deserve to be in.... Thank You"
