I'm not into any Fantasy Sports, but I do follow Stats ...

hanging at the pool the other day, I start to talk to a guy that is Heavy into Fantasy Football... he started to name stats left and right
then turned it around to regular wagering..

He started out with Teams he wouldn't bet in week #1 because of XYZ...

I think it's a little to early to decide who you are betting and not betting... Injuries being one of the reasons.

So does Fantasy Sports help you be a better Gambler ??

Hell no

It makes you a worse gambler. Have to do one or the other, can't do both

The sportsbooks props become more and more similar to fantasy every year. And the fantasy offerings become more and more similar to the sportsbooks prop bets every year.

I think so. Its knowledge on teams and players, makes you pay attention to a whole lot more than just the score.

No, you have to make sure fantasy doesn't impact your decisions

I think playing fantasy sports makes u a worse gambler b/c of biases.

However i enjoy playing Daily fantasy and there are times that i see a team stand out vs another and I will bet on the team (or total) b/c of my daily research. Have had some success but wouldnt risk the mortgage on it

I can understand why it might hurt your profits at the sportsbook because of time constraints, but there is no way it would force you to change the way you identify good bets. If someone can figure out a way to win money betting sports, they will not lose that skill just because they've found new hobbies.

My problem with that is lets say that Big Ben is my QB and the steelers are playing the RAvens. I have a good feeling the RAvens will beat the steelers but i may not bet the game (or bet less than what i want) b/c I have Ben in fantasy football.

It definitely helps with analysis. It is just more knowledge about a subject, some of that knowledge is going to overlap.

Trading and investing are two different things, but they both require knowledge about the stock market.

I said above that it does help.

Let me clarify....

Playing & following fantasy sports is definitely an advantage to one who's already a sports bettor, but it doesn't mean a dedicated Fantasy player can suddenly be a sports bettor...

I have done both and sportsbetting lines influence my fantasy lineups and not the other way around
