Does anyone realize how much of a genius Roger Clemens has become?

Roger is a brillant business man.

He is making more money in 2/3rds of season then he would have playing an entire season.

In the free agent market, he would have been competing against ZITO and others for his work.

Not saying he would not still be the highest paid, but he would not be getting as much as he is now.

Right now he is the only free agent on the market.
This is the last chance for the YANKS or REDSOX or anyone to improve there team without giving up anything besides money.

He has a monopoly on the entire market.

He can hand pick his team in MAY. By this time he knows who he can help get to the World Series and who he cant help.

If HOUSTON would have been doing better, im sure he would have stayed. But he played off of the YANKS desperation and became the highest paid player in baseball history.

I wonder what would happen if SANTANNA did this.

Dont laugh.

Lets say Santanna decieded to wait until MAY when he becomes a free agent.

I bet you he could get a bigger deal then who could get if he signed durring the offseason.

Im not saying he should sign 1 year deals like Roger does because he is too young.

But if I was him or Haliday I would not sign with anyone until MAY.

Let the teams that are just one player short have to fight for him in MID May.

This move is brillant.

Roger is the man.

I'm not sure I'd call him a genius. As someone once said to me about 15 years ago ... "They call him the Rocket, not the Rocket Scientist".

He is a genius, he is in complete control, he doesnt need the money, so it's either his way or no way. As if no one else would do that. Joe Blow working 9-5 making 50k, gets offered 100k to work M/W/F 10-2, he wouldnt do it if he could?

He just is older and body breaks down so a shorter season makes sense. He knows this. Clemens is not a genius...but a hard worker and great pitcher.

Roger Clemens is no genius. He's an asshole. He only gets away with all the bullshit that he does because teams continue let him get away with it. I'll never have any respect for him because I feel he dogged it during his last two seasons with the Red Sox. I'm surprised the Red Sox were even talking with him about signing with them.

The Yankees can have him. He'll probably help that shitty pitching staff because he's still a better than average pitcher.

Yeah sure Joe Blow would take that deal if offered, but at the same time they would admit IT IS ABOUT THE MONEY, and not give some BS saying it isnt.
