Study it is the best advice I could give. Watch scores. Remember matchup scores. Carolina/Detroit would be set at 5. You have to know that. TB/Col would be 5.5. If you don't know what a total should be set at its best you just study it until you do. That's a start.

the pucks isn't my most knowledgable sport, but when I see that 2 teams have had high scoring games so far, and in the past, when playing each other, they've put up high totals, yet the line opens at 5, I'm pouncing on it....i.e. Winnipeg/tor tonight, I'm playing that under. Tthe opener pretty much gives it away imo.

Under is wrong side on Tor/Win.

I agree with Bourn, over is a better play on the Tor/Wpg game. In fact, I see the overs hitting for both games tonight, so I bet over on grand salami.

In regards to your Original Post though, I would love it if anyone has any good tips. One thing that I've learned is to go OVER, or abstain from playing the game. If it looks like an UNDER, don't bet it. Due to the "open net" practices of a lot of teams, a 3-1 game with 3 mins left can turn into 5-1 to kill the under.

The odds makers have taken into account the open net. The real money in totals is in the Unders in all American sports. Why? because it's against the public. I am a "Totals" guy. I would really love to have discussion about NHL totals. I had to modify my plays since the rule changes in 2015. I would like to hear what others are doing. I was hitting NHL unders at around 57% until this year. I have some sub-categories that hit over 60% but my overall has dropped since the rule changes. I want to trade info with you guys. The Non-division home dog is one of my favorites. As long as the home team has at least a 50% win percentage and the line doesn't move from open to close, you are good. Me personally... 57.8% at about 10% ROI.

I know that everybody hate trends, but what the hell if they work roll with it! I take and abstract look and previous head to head match ups on the teams home ice, rest, line and movement if any and of course goalies. Example for tomorrow with home teams playing with no rest is off to a blazing start....if the price has been right both have been cashing in early on at a 70% clip. Once it regresses then I will just put it on the watch list.

season = 2016 and H and rest = 0
SU:17-4 (1.10, 81.0%) avg line: -116.5 / 102.9 on / against: +$1,353 / -$1,446 ROI: +51.2% / -60.2%
OU:14-5-2 (1.14, 73.7%) avg total: 5.3

The WAS/CHI game tonite is a non-division game where the home team is the dog. Currently 72% of the bets are on the over. That will keep the juice from going through the roof.
