Does anyone else feel the Dolphins are a QB change away from being the 2000 Baltimore Ravens?

This team has allowed only one touchdown in the first half this season. If they make a change at the QB position and Griese shows some flashes of what he is capable of, look out for this team. If they stick with Fiedler, it looks like they are going to come up short. Just my opinion, I could be wrong.

I think Fiedler is holding this team back.

Not at all. This Mia D is overrated in my opinion. They are not good against the pass & can be exposed bigtime that way. Let them go up against a team like the Rams, Steelers etc... they would get torched. Balt's D in 2000 was good everywhere.

I really don't see it either. I think Wannestedt is an average coach at best (continually gets less out of more) and they don't have the talent. To never address an average at best QB and WR situation was a front office error as well.

Tough loss this week but I am bullish on the Dolphins. Very good defense and Ricky Williams. They will win a lot of games that way.

Griese is a better QB than Fiedler could even hope to be but they're both below average QB's and neither one is capable of a good playoff run. But this team won't go anywhere with Wanstiff on the sideline.

Come November Miami will begin their annual slide to 9-7 and might not make the play-offs again.

Oh baby I can't wait for the last 2 games on the road for the Go-Fish.It is nice to see the Go-Fish in December on the road making everybody x-mas dollars.

Why make a change at qb? Brian Greise, who and what has he done in the NFL? He throws more interceptions than TD's because Griese can't read defenses and he is not anything what his father is.QB change will only hurth this team.Griese did nothing in Denver. What the palm trees are gonna turn Griese's career around? Griese will be around in the NFL more maybe 3-5 years before he becomes a Rick Mirer,Jeff flake,Aaron Brooks,Dan Mcguire,Erik Kramer,Andre Ware, or even Rodney Peete. The Dolphins will not see the super bowl with any of the QB's because they have a coach that is just like Monte Clark,Wayne Fontes,Dennis Erickson,or even Dennis Green.

I just can get excited about this bunch.

Griese is no Dilfer!I would take Dilfer in his prime before the Greise man.

I Half Heartedly Agree
They are not the Ravens regardless of who is the QB, the Ravens would be the 2000 Ravens if they had gotten Mark Brunell. However, The Dolphins are definitely a threat if they have a quarter back that can see past the 50 yard line downfield. Brian Griese can do that but the ball will end up in the cornerbacks hands 4 out of 10 times.

Glad to see I'm not the only one enjoying that "Dilfer in his prime" reference!

its the same protocol with the dolphins every year - why should this year be any different?

mr. meogi,

That's the point I'm trying to make. Defenses are not respecting Fiedlers' passing ability so they can key on Williams. They need to see if Griese can give them a spark in the passing game and take some of the load off of Ricky's shoulders.

I would say they are a HEAD COACH away from being the Baltimore Ravens.

I loved that PREVENT OFFENSE he had against New England - what a loser. He brings football to a new low.

Here is DW's gameplan: Drive inside the 30, run Ricky three times for 5 yards and kick a field goal.

All of a sudden, that kick the field goal part of the equation got a whole lot trickier, and the turf ain't gonna be back til the other fish are done. Mare used to be automatic, now I think his head games are just starting

No team led by Wannstedt will ever win the SB, and I agree that Griese is better than Fiedler. Fiedler and Wannstedt deserve each other.

If thats your last hope of cashing in on your future put it in the loss column now. Shanahan had the same problem, thats why he got rid of him.

As for the comparison with the Ravens Defense, your are joking, right. If anyone else had written that, you would have come back at them with a pile of stats to the contrary, and you would be right to say so.

If it's stats you want, then stats you'll get. This defense does compare statistically with that Ravens defense over their first seven games.

Miami has led in the first half of every game so far this year:

14-6 vs. Texans
21-3 @ Jets
7-0 vs. Bills
13-10 @ Giants
10-3 @ Jaguars
10-6 vs. Patriots
24-3 @ Chargers

They are allowing an average of 4.4 points in the first half. (The 2000 Ravens were allowing an average of 5 points in the first half). The problem is the offense. Opposing defenses don't respect Fiedler, currently ranked 12th in the AFC in passing yards, so they can key in on stopping Ricky Williams.

The 2000 Ravens passing game had the same problem before they benched Tony Banks and brought in Trent Dilfer. Now Dilfer was no pro bowl QB but he sparked the offense and made enough deep throws to loosen up the defense, allowing RB Jamal Lewis to gain more yards in the ground game. And before you knew it, a team that started the season 5-4 was holding the Lombardi trophy. A team who won with a quarterback that was a castoff from his previous team.

On Miami's bench sits QB Brian Griese, castoff after four seasons in Denver. He could provide the spark the passing game needs. If he does, and Ricky Williams starts running again, this team will be tough to beat with that defense.

Lou - I think you are right that Fiedler is performing poorly and should be benched. My numbers now have New England as the top AFC team, and Fiedler could cost Miami a trip to the Super Bowl.
