440 man tourney, we are down to the final 40.
10 people at my table, what are the odds of two men getting dealt pocket A-A on the same hand.
If I wasn't in this tourney right now, I'd figure it out, has to be at least 10000 - 1 odds.

I have seen it happen at least 3 times in live poker tournaments as well

What's that, the new math?
10 players, 20 hole cards, 52 card deck,4 aces dealt, two to one player, two to another, and you are trying to tell me this happens once every 135 hands?

Unless I read it wrong thats what the study said, wouldn't be the first time I have misread something.

You misread.
2 people getting pocket aces at the same time.
You quoted me 1 person getting pocket aces.
Honest mistake.

One person getting pocket aces was about 1 in 188 hands I thought.

All I can tell you is that I have seen it happen in live tournaments 3 times in my life and have seen it happen online about 20 times.

But I do play alot of poker though

I've only seen AA vs. AA once live, the only reason I remember it is, was a big pot, nothing on the board really, first guy to act goes all in on the river. The other guy takes time and is killing himself but decides to muck. He shows his aces in an attempt to show what a good laydown he's making....Of course the other guy shows HIS aces as he's collecting the pot....The other guy was humilated and left the table soon after.

You just don't get that kind of humiliation online.

Im just estimating but 20 mtts a week, avg ughhhh 90 hands each x4 comes to lets say 7k hands i month i see ( and I get a playable hand in like 12 of them...lol)
And again just estimating i think i see AA vs AA an avg of a shade over once a month..
So im going to say its somewhere around 6500-1 odds of it happening

I believe it should be about 1/12250 at a 10 player table.

I thought it was 220-1 also

I would think for it to happen and for someone else to get it too.....we are looking at least 220 x 220.....divided by the number of additional hands in the pot.

I think the odds are similar to getting dealt 4 of a kind in omaha (seen it happen once, but i rarely play omaha)

That's what I came up initially.

p.s. if anybody gives a rats ass, finished 4th there, good enough to qualify.
