The song Tim McGraw rode about his experience with his father baseball pitcher Tug McGraw, is about as inspirational as it gets...

anyone who's not living like they're dying, isn't living......Journeyman July 2004

He said I was in my early forties
with a lot of life before me
when a moment came that stopped me on a dime
and I spent most of the next days
looking at the x-rays
Talking bout the options
and talking bout sweet time
I asked him when it sank in
that this might really be the real end
how?s it hit you when you get that kinda news
man what?d you do

and he said
I went sky diving
I went Rocky Mountain climbing
I went 2.7 seconds on a bull named BluManchu
and I loved deeper and I spoke sweeter
and I gave forgiveness I?d been denying
and he said someday I hope you get the chance
to live like you were dying.

He said I was finally the husband
that most the time I wasn?t
and I became a friend a friend would like to have
and all the sudden going fishin
wasn?t such an imposition
and I went three times that year I lost my dad
well I finally read the good book
and I took a good long hard look
at what I?d do if I could do it all again

and then
I went sky diving
I went Rocky Mountain climbing
I went 2.7 seconds on a bull named BluManchu
and I loved deeper and I spoke sweeter
and I gave forgiveness I?d been denying
and he said someday I hope you get the chance
to live like you were dying.

Like tomorrow was a gift and you got eternity to think about
what?d you do with it what did you do with it
what did I do with it
what would I do with it?

Sky diving
I went Rocky Mountain climbing
I went 2.7 seconds on a bull named BluManchu
and then I loved deeper and I spoke sweeter
and I watched an eagle as it was flying
and he said someday I hope you get the chance
to live like you were dying.
To live like you were dying
To live like you were dying
To live like you were dying
To live like you were dying

Boys, walking is great.. I just bought these 2 gadgets that I highly recommend if you are a walker and trying to cut off some pounds. I bought a calorie counter, which tells you how many calories you burn.. That I put on my left hip.. And on my other hip, I have another gadget that tells you the distance you walk. Yes, I do look like a freak when I walk with them, but it is worth it.

I burned 1200 calories per day average this week and walked 9 miles a day. Of course I owe most of that to the Jazz Festival in Montreal where there are 200,000 people outdoor and free concerts. Walking is great boys, and I feel really relaxed now too..

I highly recommend it..

I think I may have posted this before but I read in Sports Illustrated in an obit on Tug McGraw that he was asked what he had done with his winner's share of World Series money after he had won it with the Phillies and he said,

"I spent 80 % of it on whiskey, women and song and the other 20% I just squandered".

Classic.

I went to an old timers game and had field passes. I got my pitcher taken with Tug and also an autograph baseball, very kind man, also got my pitcher taken with Lou Brock, Boog Powell, Hank Aaron and many more.

Someone took your pitcher? That is so mean. I hope you get it back. Did you get a picture of the guy?

Journeyman....how far does one have to walk in a day to add 9 more years to one's life???

Does walking to the 'fridge and back to the recliner count?

Does this mean mail carriers will live forever, if they dodge all thier coworkers bullets?
