I mean this is soo wide open now days.....seems like every game that I watch at least one of the teams is running the spread offense. Not my cup of tea, but by the looks of it....it will become more popular as we go forward.

nah i would rather see 60 minutes of 3 yard runs and screen plays.

nothhing more fun than watching a game you can count the final score on you hands.

i would also suggest they make teh rims 20 feet tall in nba, cause that would make it more intresting

if youre a true football fan and actually played and understand the game.(assumming no money on over/under)...you like to watch good football. that means good offense and good defense. if youre a true football fan a whole bunch of tds can be just as boring as no tds. however one of my girls, if i watch game with her. she doesnt care about defense whatsoever, blitzes, or what offense team is running or if the guard is pulling. all these girls look for and wanna know 'is it a td, did they score td'....lmao. same soft gay guys think same way. we call them losers. we want to see the mans game, and the way it was originally supposed to be played. they want to see a litttle boys flag football type game. or a powder puff type game where girls play girls and boys are cheerleaders. and theres no defense or line of scrimmage. its just td after td whoever has ball last...the same is happening now with alot of these teams. and losers jack off at the sight of it...but real men dont. i agree dont like this spread bullshit. we wanna see physical hardnosed manly football.

My thoughts exaxtly.....not that I dont enjoy a good old shoot-out once in awhile, but its seems to be happening more and more. And oh by the way...no I wouldnt rather watch Notre Dame, when 3 yards is considered a big gainer......get a fucking clue....thats not what I intended when I started this thread. Some fuckers are clueless.

As long as it's well played by both teams I don't care if it's 48-45 or 13-10. To me both can be just as exciting. I do prefer watching pro style offenses though, and none of that gimmick shit. The gimmick teams get exposed when playing top teams though, which is why tech got killed by ou. they're nothing but a gimmick team as they always are. hawaii was a gimmick team last year and it showed vs uga.

eventually the spread will get shut down and a new offense will emerge, and it will keep going like that. these are mostly just versions of things weve seen before.

If you don't like to see good wide open offense, then tell your team to go play better defense. Simple as that. Any great offense can be stopped or slowed down by an equally great defense.

Not if the refs don't call holding anymore. And in the Big 12, the memo certainly got out and it said this: DON'T CALL HOLDING, ESPECIALLY IN PRIMETIME GAMES ON ABC. Fucking bullshit the amount of holding that goes on in the Big 12. Mark my word GS, the Big 12 will be hampered by holding calls in the bowl games. It's a travesty how much Tech and OU hold.

In the NFL New England and Indy have been running the no huddle spread for years with great success. It's not any different than any other offense. It can be stopped by a great defense. As in last year the NY Giants over NE in the Super Bowl. The spread offense will be around as long as the west coast and the option offense. If you have the right players, all of these offenses can and will be successful for here on out. Yes, Texas Tech has a gimmick offense. But the big weakness of TT that sets them apart from the big boys isn't their offense. It;s their defense. They simply have never been able to get the blue chip players that Texas and OU have.

jb...The players are well aware of what constitutes a hold. And blockers have much more leeway with defensive players than you think. And the players know how far they can go. That's why new offensive lineman get called more often for holds. It takes them a good year or two to become a good lineman who can block and not get called. Sure, they call it different for different conferences. Just like the refs in basketball call fouls differently depending on the conference. Some allow more physical play, some don't. This is nothing new. If you want to see a truckfull of holds every game just watch the pros on Sunday.

Well, the SEC is unwatchable unless Georgia or Florida is playing, so I guess my answer is yes, absolutely.

Rule changes have ruined football for the people who liked the original game.
When DB's arent allowed to look wrong at receivers or touch them coming off the line, why not throw the ball every down. You couldn't pull this shit in the 70's and early 80's because the weak ass receivers would get smashed at the line, and if you didnt keep enough in the backfield to block for your QB he wasn't gonna make the 2nd QTR.
Thank Bill Walsh/ Don Shula for changing how holding is called and for pussifying the QB position. With the addition of stupid INT calls and no touch DB play, why not throw the ball every down.

I like defense so it killed me to watch the rules changes in the 80's. Once the rules changes were made in the pros it worked its way down to the college game. In the spread offense the QB should be PLANTED every time, he is a threat to run, right?

I have to say I agree with some of what you said....

However if these great defenses could stop this style of offense....teams wouldn't use it. Right?
