no, they're still a very bad team. better coaching this year tho so at least they won't be the league laughing stock anymore. ok city will take over that role

of course they do. it is the east... teams below .500 routinely make the playoffs and this is a better than .500 team.

1. celtics
2. cavs
3. pistons
4. magic
5. raptors (they will be a strong second half of the season team)
6. knicks
7. hawks
8. heat

if you want to replace any of those teams you would have to do it with philly, indy, chicago, new jersey... i think you could see the bottom two miss out as both the heat and the hawks are extremely mediocre (despite appearances from the hawks)...

I'm a Knicks fan and i don't think they will make the playoffs but they are headed in the right direction. You couldn't ask for a better coach then D'Antoni. They look pretty good with the limited talent they have. He is doing more with them now then most thought he would. They are competative. They are a few players away from being very good. Next year i wouldn't be surprised if they got Lebron. That would be huge! Looks like they made a mistake in drafting Gallinari though. They could have gotten Jerryd Bayless. He still has time to be a solid player, Gallinari that is, but he has back problems and that's not good.

Just an early season observation but the East currently has a record of 80-64 while the West's is 65-81.

It'll be interesting to see if this keeps up and if the gap is truly closing between the conferences.
