SEEMS TO ME EVEN IF THAT WAS WHAT THE LINE SHOULD BE, THAT THE BOOKS WOULDNT WANT SUCH A COMMON NUMBER AS THE LINE FOR THE BIGGEST GAME OF THE YEAR...

SEEMS A DECENT CHANCE IT COULD LAND ON THAT NUMBER, AND I WOULD THINK THAT WOULD BE THE WORST THING FOR BOOKS....LOSE ALL THAT VIG ON SUPERBOWL SUNDAY....

PLUS ALL TEASERS WOULD HIT TO BOOT......I WOULD THINK THEY WOULD WANT A 1/2 ON THE SUPERBOWL NO MATTER WHICH WAY THEY PUT IT....AVOID THE PUSHES AND COLLECT THE VIG.....

WHY WOULDNT THEY?

Why give it to them if they can buy the hook. Players don;t like to push either.

yeah, i guess thats a good point....

just seems to me in the perfect world, a book wants a ton of action on each side, balanced, and collect the vig...

but then it never works that way im sure, and you are right, a player taking carolina is probably gonna buy the hook, and one taking new england most definitely would....

thanks sub..

bucsfan...in a perfect world you're right, but in this case, if most books had it at 6.5 they would have 70-75 percent of their action on the Pats and be at risk to lose a lot more...or if it was at 7.5 they would have 80-90 percent of their money on the Panthers and really looking at getting wiped out.

The books put up the line, but it's the bettors that determines where it ends up and it's clear that 7 is the right number and not much the bet takers can do about it.

Most locals don't let their customers buy hooks and tons of money are bet with locals!

bucsfan...didn't see your reply to the previous poster before I wrote mine...we both use the same "perfect world" cliche. Great minds think alike
