the chairman of the DNC. I have to tell you if Dean becomes the chairman of the DNC the democrats are finished. They will no doubt lose seats in the house and senate in 2006. Are democrats living is reality or have they completely lost their minds. Why not just make Michael mooron chairman/propagandist of the DNC. This cannot be serious, can it?

Gameface, please take a look at the red and blue map.

Now you tell me if a moderate stands any kind of chance of making it as a Democrat.

Can you spell Northeast Liberal!

BB,

If I was trying to destroy the DNC Dean would be in the top 3 I'd give that position to. Other than Moroon and Sharpton could there be a worse choice.

I have to agree here. While it's refreshing to hear the passion of Dean and whats-his-name from Illinois, I simply do not think the solution to fanatic extremist nazi-righties is full-blown looney lefthood.

It's certainly not going to help bridge the gap between elite New Englanders and imbred Southerners.

It doesn't matter who they choose. The media will just catch him at an unguarded moment, blow it all out of proportion and make him appear a bufoon. At least they've already performed this trick on Dean.

I'm surprised all the time when people refer to Dean as extreme left wing liberal. True, he opposed war from Iraq.

However, fiscally he is more conservative than Bush by a long shot. Bush took largest surplus in Texas history and turned it into largest deficit in Texas history and guess what - he did the same for the federal deficit.

Hell, compared to Bush fiscally, Dean is a conservative's ideal candidate.

I don't see anyone standing in the way of a Hill/Bill ticket, they control most of the money.

Dean Belongs In A Nut House

"I'm sure there are some disappointed people here. You know what? You know something? You know something? If you had told us one year ago that we were going to come in third in Iowa, we would have given anything for that. And you know something? You know something?

Not only are we going to New Hampshire ... we're going to South Carolina and Oklahoma and Arizona and North Dakota and New Mexico, and we're going to California and Texas and New York. And we're going to South Dakota and Oregon and Washington and Michigan. And then we're going to Washington, D.C. To take back the White House. Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhh!"

It appears that is what the DNC has become a nut house. Who would have ever thought the leaders would be Fake-a-rape Sharpton, hiJackson, Dean, mooron 9-11, kucinich and Pelosi.

Three words: Viable Third Party.

You guys are advocating a Democrat Party that forces itself to more closely resemble that of the Republicans. You guys are forgetting the 48% of those that voted Dem, with a good chunk of those specifically NOT voting Republican.

JMO, but it seems you guys need more honest representation in your politics, not a morphing of one party into another. What kind of a choice do the real liberals in your country have if both parties are right wing?? It's supposed to be 'by the people, for the people' not 'by the party, for the party.'

(Oh, and as a quick aside, one of the characteristics of fascism is the creation of a one-party state. Those of you advocating a more conservative platform for the Dems are inching dangerously close to realising this trait.)

X...I think thats an great observation.Thats what will happen too. You've got such a polarized electorate that you could draw 25% from each side easy.

It's my belief that Kerry lost the election because he didn't play to his base. Wooing the moderates and defecting Republicans made him appear wishy-washy, certainly not strong in his convictions. A few posters here keep saying that America isn't interested in liberal politics, which is a real pile of crap. Kerry allowed the word "liberal" to be taken as a bad word when it's not. Many many Americans consider themselves liberal and their leader allowed their ideology to be publicly shamed.

We have ten percent of your population yet four strong federal parties. (One is the Bloc Quebecois, a total joke.) The end result is a stronger focus on the issues, and less on partisanship. In this way, we are able to find out what Canadians have in common, instead of focusing so strongly on our differences. The one man, one vote rule only means something if people can vote what they believe. I think American liberals got royally screwed this election.

No its not.But the term was hijacked by the left. The left in America are the most uninclusive faction there is.They call the redistribution of wealth "progressive".
If you disagree with them you are a stupid racist.
Read Maureen Dowds last 2 columns.
Listen to Bill Maher
Being European is not progressive it is being socialist.
The word conservative refers to conserving the constitution and its meaning. Not going by some whimsical global baloney agenda that changes faster than Eastern European borders.
Liberalism is fine within the paremeters of the constitution.

Liberal is the kiss of death for a national candidate. Clintoon ducked and dived successfully from the tag.

The biggest difference between Liberalism and Conservatism (and let's be real clear that NEITHER of these two ideologies had any chance of making it into the White House for this term) is the latter favours collectivism while the former favours individualism. The term 'progressive' is a better way to describe today's propagandised version of liberalism, which is not at all what the US was based on.

Kristol the Elder wrote an essay on Liberal Democracy (I forget now what it's called) in which he blamed this ideology for the fall of the Weimer Republic in Germany and the subsequent rise of the National Socialist Party. Liberal Democracy, for all intents and purposes, is the promotion of the idea of 'one man, one vote' and 'of the people, for the people.' People who don't like it, including some neoconservatives, are bothered by the 'liberal' version, though democracy itself is not problematic. To get people on board with this, the term liberal must be propagandised to reflect a set of values that are easily resisted by the masses. So, after careful campaigning (over at least a decade or more) the next thing you know, the word liberal means 'socialist' in the American public mindset.

The fact that the Dems let this happen is rather sad.

(The Libertarians are the closest thing you have to Liberal in the US.)
