I just want to take a poll on how many people think Obama's tax policy is fair for the people making over $250,000. Why ? I don't agree but many people seem to agree with it.

Maybe it's me, but people who are making more than $250k are pretty much the last people on the entire planet I would be concerned about.

Obama's entire tax proposal is a big lie. He won't implement broad based tax cuts, never supported such in his entire lifetime. To think he'll cut taxes requires a suspension of disbelief and a some hallucinogenics.

Pelosi, Reid and Rangel can't wait to let Bush's tax cuts expire, this will result in across the boards tax increases.

I do believe Obama will increase the welfare state under the guise of tax policy.

Should Obama win, I'll take any and all action on this issue, ez money.

It might not seem fair, but the entire system is rigged and inherently unfair to the poor. I guess we should just let them starve to death. I know that's what the original Native American societies would do.

Lets look out for the poor, since they don't know how to. When they start creating jobs let me know. The difference in DEMS and REPS is DEMS say govt is the best way to help the poor, REPS say let the private sector do it. Just look at Biden's contributions to charity. Nice job senator.

So a guy making 200k is poor?

I was responding to a post that said not to worry about people making over $250K.

I think we should INDEED worry about them. They create jobs.

People can worry about the poor all they want, I have NEVER seen any evidence that taking from the wealthy and giving to the poor accomplishes a damn thing.

Tell that to CC Sabathia this winter. :missingte

well, 20 million per year for 5 years changes things quite a bit.

20 million is a lot more than 250k, IMHO:drink:

Fair enough...

The US tax code is ridiculous, in Canada we have lower corporate taxes but we don't have so many damn loopholes so people end up paying more.

What if you have a very narrow window to make that kind of money?
Take a high percentage even though they may make a lot less most years?
Just one example where these things aren't as clear cut as they are made out to be.
In that scenario, you may pay a lot more taxes on the same earnings over several years.
Maybe tax rates should be calculated based on average income over a period of years.
Better yet, get rid of the income tax.

Agreed. It's moving from 36% to 39%. I'm pretty sure they'll get by.

In the end this idea completely sucks on Obama's part, how about lowering everyone's taxes by cutting this bloated out of control U.S. government monstrosity by 50%
