Sincerely what is your choice on this one. I wanted to start poll, but I guess not able!1

I say they were over rated!!! They were not as good as their reord this year. Their offense was not even close the offense they had last year.

My vote is not for a choke

My vote is OVER rated!! Cast yours!!!

I think many will want to say choked......but I actually thought the Braves were the threat in the NL....not the Cardinals. I thought the Cardinals were the popular choice

and Sherman please offer what they were....

They won their division before anyone else,

They were the Public Choice...by FAR!!!!

So either OVER RATED...and their lessers were not real good at all

or CHOKED!!!

Looked to me like it was routine that Pujols hit that homer....and then come home to LOSE

So Sherman what is it!!! If Neither!

I said it from the beginning of the playoffs their offense just wasn't nearly the same without Renteria and Rolen and Walker not being nearly as effective...they were not quite as good this year....

Tony LaRussa quietly building a long list of post season dissapointments...

I would say they were overrated because the entire National League was average to slightly above average...excluding the Pacific Coast League , errr NL West

I am in strong respect of Cardinal Baseball....I just did not see the offense of last year to make it happen, and i thought Carpenter is good, but not dominate regardless of record.

That home run the other night to me was a reminder of Ortiz and Damon versus the Yankees, and they were pumped!! St Louis did not look like that

The entire MLB season was odd, these teams are not great teams...no dominant team.

It's really very simple. They lost 2 one run ballgames, and they got shut down by the hottest pitcher in baseball. Nobody could have hit Oswalt in this series.....nobody. So what are you going to do? The Cardinals were not overrated, and they did not choke. They just got beat. They had a lot of injuries, and maybe it would have made a difference in those 2 close games where they could not get over the hump. But regardless, Houston deserves a lot of credit, because they flat out won. Remember, just because you didn't win it all, that doesn't mean that you didn't have a year to be proud of. Cardinals are still the class of MLB. Farewell to Busch. I have lots of fond memories there, and today is a very sad day. But the Cardinals will win it all one of these years, and I'm sure we will grow to love the new Busch Stadium. Eventually.

You are right!!! No one was dominant..I do agree

But JMAN, I will say this

Maybe dominance has been re defined in baseball, as NOT DOMINANT....but dominant wiht the new scheduling!!!! Meaning that even a mediocre Redsox team, and less than normal Yankees team can still steal a playoff spot from an upcomer, because of the 23 games versus one team scheduling.

Any thoughts?? I see the better staying at the top in the AL, and I do include the Orioles franchise as a contender as "franchise" in this world, but the old scheduling, I think allowed for more of a sleeper to come into the fold than now JMO

I would say they are one of the top 8 teams in baseball and nothing more..........but they made it to the NLCS and lost in 6 games.....I don't see that as a choke and i don't think people had them over rated unless they thought they would just sweep thru the playoffs, then yes they had them over rated....

Ok, I see how you have placed it, and I see what you are saying...8 teams is what it is....

Then do you agree with a best of 5 game in the divisional.....I do not!! I think if you are going to change it...then go all the way!!!!

We had an entire division under .500, thats a lot of easy wins, not to mention their division which was no juggernaut.

Their loss had nothing to do with a lack of effort. Nobody would have beaten Oswalt tonight. The one inning he made a mistake and we had a chance to get to him, we were on the bad end of a terrible call. That inning was the Cardinals' only chance. But don't say stuff like they didn't care or try. That's stupid.

Tony La Russa is one very overrated manager. High strung and paranoid. Once half the Astros' staff retires (Clemens and Pettitte) watch for the Brewers to make their move in the division.
