:suomi: Congrats to those that may have threw a few bones on the Dolphins straight up....

New England's aggressive style of play late to close out ballgames finally bit them last night...

Imagine having 2 dimes on that BB, when Brady chucked it right to Miami, then needed the 4th and 10 to keep the bet alive, then still needing to stop them!!??

Hence JJ you are always complaining about not being able to win?

As you know Jman I had a 150$ on the ML, but this was a big game for me... HUGE game actually (based on my bankroll), cauz I had a nickel at + 10.5 +105 & 250$ on the first half...... I was quite depressed when they were down by 11!!!!

give the more emotional more motivated underdog at home on a Monday Night ANYTIME.... Especially a team like MIAMI whi is MUCH MUCH better than their record indicates.......

SS, I am glad you won, dont get me wrong, but how can people bet that saying "Miami was more emotional"?, and "more motivated"?

Miami's season is over, they are playing for a lame duck coach..New England is playing for home field advantage throughout the playoffs, and are looking at back-to-back superbowl victories.....

I understand the concept of being a dog at home, wanting to defend your turf, but how could u possible assume that Miami would be more motivated, or emotional?

Why wasnt Cleveland more motivated or emotional than San Diego this weekend?

It seems this is just potluck on which home team will decide to play even though their season is over...this week the Giants did it, the Dolphins did it, but Cleveland didnt, and San Fran didnt.......

Like I said, I am not arguing with you at all, hell I wish I had liked Miami now too, I just cant see how anyone would read that Miami would be MORE motivated, or MORE emotional, when they were playing for nothing but pride, and since they were tied with Pitt, New England was playing for everything, and RARELY throws in a dud....

I wish I did. I play underdogs on the moneyline frequently but I did NOT see this one coming.

Congrats to those who did.

bucs, it is more of a GUT feeling than anything.... It is not a SCIENCE....

but when you look back on last night's game..... obviously this game represented MIAMI's superbowl... did it not? A chance to knock off the world champs in front of their own home crowd? Pretty much eliminating all of the horrors of a terrible season.....

Not to mention if you look back at MIAMI's record they were in many, many of their games which they lost.... Remember last week.... a field goal loss to Denver as double digit dogs.... MIAMI is a buch better team than the record indicates.... Couple this with the double digit (PLUS) home dog angle.... On monday night.... In front of a National audience....

You do bring up an interesting point? who is more motivated in big games? the team that has to win for playoff implications (New England?) or the team that can potentially play the roll of the spoiler (MIAMI?).... Tough question to answer.... some teams will lay down... others will not.... MIAMI showed me all season that they do not QUIT.....

PERSONALLY, I love betting againt the team that is the 'SPOILER' vs the team that 'HAS TO WIN'.... The 'THEY HAVE TO WIN TO MAKE THE PLAYOFFS' angle is one of the worst angles (IMO)....

BTW... I did call this play early in the week, I knew it was a big game for me, just didnt know when to bet it....

THANKS TO OLDMANTED!!!!!! I WAITED!!!! & got the BEST POSSIBLE Number.... Thanks Ted:

jman, OH, I thought you saw my thread from last night about it right after MIAMI intercepted the ball at the end of the game....

bucs,

imagine being a MIAMI player, reading all the articles about how terrible you are, knowing you have been close in so many games.... World CHAMPS coming into your house.... Maybe you even like the 'lame duck' coach who has a small shot at the job.... If you were in their shoes.... would you not feel 'emotional' or 'motivated'.... AGAIN... it can go both ways.... some will lay down, others will not..... THats why they call it GAMBLING!

Yes. Had +525 pre-game and then doubled up at the half at +575 at 5Dimes. Bizarre that the line was 50 cents higher despite Miami covering the 1st half and showing they clearly had a shot to win. I felt obliged to hit it again.

Savant:

Congratulations on your win last night. I was thinking about you when the Dolphins pulled the outright win. Divisional home dogs in the right situation are always dangerous and particularly in the NFL. All my best.
