3 teams have gone winless in the modern era, each of those teams were justified in a way. Expansion team or strike shortened season.

the 0-fers.......

1960 Dal 0-11-1

1976 TB 0-14

(both were expansion teams)

1982 Bal 0-8-1 strike shortened season

Det is going to do it the old fashioned way, pure ineptitude. This ones for you, Matt "one more wr" Millen.

So the question is, do they get there? I say yes. Heres why: tell me, which team do they beat?

wk 14 v Min
wk 15 @Ind
wk 16 v N.O.
wk 17 @GB

Only hope is wk 15 or 16 they face a team thats either locked in or locked out of the post season and decides to go with their jv. Unfortunately, the 6-6 saints and 5-7 packers will likely be out of the postseason and struggling to get to .500. So no joy for Det.

How about a prayer vigil with the pope? :pope:

I'd say they have a decent shot in the 2 home games. The Vikings always seem to pull a shitfest out of their ass when you least expect it. Coming off 2 relatively convincing wins, losing at Detroit would certainly fit the pattern. And remember that they needed a FG in the closing seconds to win the first game 12-10 in the Metrodome.

If not, then New Orleans could very well be out of the playoff race by week 16, and have less to play for. Although they would certainly not want to lose to an 0-14 team, playoffs or not.

I certainly can't see them winning either of the road games, but maybe getting away from their fans is the best thing for them at this point.

Seems like an even money proposition to me at this point.

Calling all conspiracy theorists............

Calling all conspiracy theorists.

Do you think the NFL honcho's would prefer Detroit not go winless? Seems like the fans of parity would prefer the league not get that kind of attention, or saying it another way......that the attention paid to the league go in other directions.

Well the league has been kicking around the suspension issue for 8 weeks. And the team most adversely effected is Minn, losing both Def tackles. Just so happens to be playing Det. Does Det run up the gut and gain their win?

Gets more and more interesting.

Both Williams' are out for the rest of the season. That can't hurt Detroit this week but I still can't talk myself into a play on them.

Very likely possibility of 0-16. This weekend would be their best shot though with the Vikings losing some of their linemen and as an earlier post stated, Minny seems to lay an egg when least expected. Detroit is a horrible team though so winless is certainly within their realm.

Lions are going to beat the Vikings this week. We should have beat them earlier in the year but the refs stole it from us. Now they're missing their defensive tackles. We got this!

I live Just north of Detroit and believe me when I say, The Detroit Lions are one of the worst football teams in NFL history. Not just because of all the losses this year but some people forget Detroit has only won one of it's last 20 games. That being a 25-20 win at home against the almost equally horrible Cheifs last year. This team is bad from start to finish, inside out, up and down, the entire organization if screwed up from the top right down to the ticket booth attendant. We just brought in an almost 300lb retired quarterback to get us through the season. The owner is the 2nd biggest pussy in the NFL second only to the head coach. Millen kept his job WAAYYYYY longer than he should have. Not one first round draft pick under the Millen era amounted to shit. I only beg that the lions are smart enough to boot the old man out of the office and give total control of the team to Jr. They need to start dumping off this fatass quarterback and use the extra money to try and caox Bill Cowher out of retirement to save this entire organization.

Calvin Johnson is already a top 5 WR and will likely be one of the best in the NFL, if not the best in a year or two. He is as dominant as they come at that position. That was a great draft pick.

Also, I don't think the Lions go winless. It's 50/50 this week against the Vikings.

Calvin Johnson? Roy Williams?

Well since Roy Williams no longer plays for the Lions I would say yeah, that pick up didnt amount to shit for the Lions, and sure Calvin Johnson is having an OK year but he's pretty mch getting all the receptions now because williams is gone I wouldnt call 53 receptions for 971 yards with 8 touchdowns a franchiser. Those are pretty comparable to T.O. numbers for the season and I think he's having an OFF year so who's kidding who?:smoker2:

ironically new orleans was tampa bay's first win after going
0-26 when they joined the league. that looks like the lions best shot although not a good one.

Really?? I don't think it even matters if those defensive guys are out for Minny, but on any given Sunday the strangest things could happen, but I don't think the NFL had Detroit in mind when saying this...
