should help curtail crime and keep the guns in the hands of law-abiding citizens as we all know gang bangers buy their weapons and ammo through legal means and will be dissuaded from purchasing their next arsenal.

also ensures that the folks in poorer neighborhoods have no way to protect themselves since they certainly can't afford guns and ammo if they can't afford food and electricity.

nothing but a back door effort to repeal the 2nd amendment....

The bill, H.R. 5103, does the following:

-Doubles the federal excise tax on pistols and revolvers, from 10 percent to 20 percent.
-Nearly doubles the federal excise tax on shotguns and rifles, raising it from 11 percent up to 20 percent.
-Nearly quintuples the federal excise tax on ammunition, raising it from 11 percent up to 50 percent.

I am saying I would like to make it where nobody except military personnel would ever have access to these weapons. Then we use that money for services that are needed and people could make use of them. But if rich people were willing, and would continue to pay the high price then I’d be happy that we kept the other group from getting them.”

Democratic answer to ALL things - HIGHER TAXES!!!

How much money do you think gangbangers and criminals pay for guns and ammunition? And do you actually think these criminals go into brick and mortar stores to purchase these items where they are subject to a tax?

I would say a huge majority of those who illegally have a weapon and ammo, bought it off the black market and will continue to do so.

So HOW do higher taxes actually stop criminals from getting a weapon?
