Denver homeless to disappear during Democrat Convention

With the Democratic National Convention in town next month, an advocacy group plans to make the unsightly street people in Denver disappear.

The Colorado Coalition for the Homeless plans to get 500 movie tickets as well as passes to the Denver Zoo, Denver Museum of Nature and Science and other cultural facilities to get city street people out of sight during the convention.

They will be given bus tickets for events out of walking distance. Anything to get them out of sight.

A more sure way to get them off the streets is to give them beer money and send them to LoDo (Lower Downtown) bars. How long would a wino agree to stay at the Zoo or Museum of Nature and Science?

:lolBIG:..In 1982 took an Amtrack from LA to Chicago. After 24 hours finally a 30 minute stop in Denver. "What's that smell!". Downtown was pretty bad.

When I got back on the train all I heard was "What's that smell.?"

Republicans would clean them up and give them a job - or throw them into a drunk tank to sober up.

Democrats would give them checks for their "disease" and set them loose in downtown areas so they can accost the populace with their begging and leave their feces on the sidewalk for one and all to step on.

The term "homeless" was created by Ronnie Reagan.

In fact many homeless rights activists say the single most devastating thing Reagan did to create homelessness was when he cut the budget for the Department of Housing and Urban Development by three-quarters, from $32 billion in 1981 to $7.5 billion by 1988. The department was the main governmental supporter of subsidized housing for the poor. Add this to Reagan’s overhaul of tax codes to reduce incentives for private developers to create low-income homes and you had a major crisis for low-income families and individuals. Under Reagan, the number of people living beneath the federal poverty line rose from 24.5 million in 1978 to 32.5 million in 1988.
And the number of homeless people went from something so little it wasn’t even written about widely in the late 1970s to more than 2 million when Reagan left office. But as Reagan proudly declared that the number of homeless shelters had increased significantly during his presidency.
