BOY!! i have agonized over this one for a LONG time -- had really liked the spartans, but TOO many people that i respect here on nebraska. therefore, i'm 1 unit mich state, and here's why -- how stupid as it may seem (lot of good cappers seeing things differently):
michigan state, despite what people here have said is a pretty balanced off -- i know smoker, smoker, smoker, but i've seen them play, and they can run the ball. but i also see smoker in a nfl draft preview -- showing what he can do. and aabove all of his athletic talen he is a favre-like leader; he will help keep these guys focussed on the task at hand. and speaking of focus john L. will have this team prepared.
nebraska brings a solid def, and a very mediocre off lead by an all incompetent qb lord. but what really has me second-guessing this husker team is the coaching situation -- pelinni took over at the end of the year for a surpirsed fired solich. and after a week of work witth the off (pellini was d co-ord) the off players wanted to boycott -- hated the strict practices, wanted solich back, and pellini exacerbated the situation by going to the media with his side! i don't think they show up for the lame-duck coach tonite! the spartans begged to be at this bowl--sent a committee down there to petition that they should be there instead of minnesota; the huskers thought about not going. i could be wrong, but i can't find a reason to invest in the huskers tonite
. the only thing that beats me here is if smoker fails miserabley, is he's solid the spartans win outright.
