Celtics director of basketball operations Danny Ainge has been promising for months that he was going to fill the scoring void left when he traded Antoine Walker to Dallas.

Ainge has made his move.

Two league sources told Insider that the Celtics and Cavaliers have agreed to a trade that will send Ricky Davis, Chris Mihm and Michael Stewart to Boston for Eric Williams, Tony Battie and Kedrick Brown.

The trade is expected to be announced later Monday.

Davis is a scoring machine but has bumped heads with new head coach Paul Silas. Silas coached Davis as a rookie in Charlotte and the two didn't get along, and Silas has grown frustrated with Davis' lack of defensive effort this season.

The trade gives the Cavs three solid defenders to surround LeBron James. In addition, Cleveland creates extra cap flexibility next summer when Williams' contract comes off the books.

The Celtics get a player capable of scoring 20 points a game in Davis as well as big man Mihm, who is playing the best basketball of his career.

Normally they have to pass a Phisycal first, so i don't think so.
Anyway i don't think there are going to be many places with lines for those games.

Sounds like a balanced trade.

Wondering how Pierce and Davis can get along?

Maybe the next Jordan & Pippen(not saying they are as good as them, referring to the SF and SG combo) type combo?

Mihm is playing great right now, i think Boston got out of the trade just a bit more of a winner, still we have to see how Davis adapts.
The good part is that with Walker, the celtics are already used to a guy that has no defense.

So that explains why the Celts and Cavs game is circled....

Why is the Mavs game circled?

On the Dallas game, my guess is that it's because of Finley and i would also love to know wether the trade will be in place for tonight's game, my guess is no.

pinnacle and olympic now have t'wolves as -1 to -1.5 favs.

DON B rickys fantasy value will only shoot up, silas was taking his minutes. you remember he was a 21 ppg scorer last year.

raef lafrentz was placed on injured 12/13. i said it in NBA forum i'll say it here, if you got t'wolves + pts merry xmas.

boston wasnt going to be some 12-12 team mustering 6 straight wins together against a well playing west conf. power such as the t'wolves to begin with.

Davis is a selfish player and will hurt the Celtics. Mihm has some potential, but I think Silas just got frustrated with some players who played ZERO defense and thought it was time to upset the apple cart.

Cleveland Under for next two weeks.

Former Hawkeye Don Nelson didnt do to shabby for the CELTS!

ps- You can add Acie Earl to your list of Hawkeye/Celtic busts though.

Ainge must have had his thumb up his ass when he made this move! Davis is one of the biggest thugs in the league and a huge head case. Battie was huge inside in the playoffs. He was a shot blocking machine. They are gonna miss his presence inside come playoff time. That's if they even make the damn playoffs. Cavs management did a wonderful job getting rid of Davis and now this is perhaps the 2nd step (lebron was the first) of rebuilding this franchise.
