6 players drop out of Miami Open in a Masters 1000 event---in the 1st round---of which this happens so often because they are already injured and want the 1st round check. So they play 1 set(or less) and then retire.

So much so that years ago---before covid---rules changed that if the tournament finds you were injured before your match they can re-claim your check. They also stated they will give you half the amount if you just state to them you are hurt and the other half to the person who replaces you...

Joe obviously didn't bother to look for any of this---just "o they didn't feel well--VACCINE!" and "omg like anyone stops playing anything over BLISTERS!"
