i month or so ago, i started a thread about how gambling has ruined sports for me. here is an example:
i don't like the cubs. i am a sox fan. however, i am a realist and know that the white sox have no shot at the division this year. the twins are too good and everyone else in that division has improved...except for the sox. their pitching absolutely blows and they lost a ton with ordonez.
a guy in my office is going on and on about how they will win the division this year...burhle this, garcia that, blah blah blah. then he starts in on the cubs...prior's achilles, no outfield, nomar is as fragile as a ming vase, blah blah blah. then, he says "the sox have a better shot at making the playoffs than the cubs do". to which i replied "wanna bet". he's says ok. $25 even money.
its just sickening.
