ISU grad here. Anyone think Iowa State can beat Iowa outright
? I've heard ISU's new coach is awesome and Iowa looked iffy at best in first week but that scares me. ISU always plays Iowa tough. I was thinking moneyline

Iowa State usually gives Iowa hell, I don't see any reason the Cyclones couldn't win this game.
GREAT relatively unknown rivalry game, BTW.

I took Iowa in this one. Both teams played below their ability last week, but Northern Iowa is a pretty darned good I-AA team. They could beat a lot of DI teams. North Dakota State is a decent enough I-AA, but a pretty good notch below Northern Iowa.

If the teams both play like they're capable of, Iowa has the talent advantage over the Cyclones. In a rivalry game, though, there are just so many intangibles you never know for sure how it's going to turn out. Still, I like my chances with the Hawkeyes well enough, but I wouldn't break the budget to load up a bet on either side.

Iowa is always favored in this game. Hawkeyes typically spend a lot of time reading their press clippings and preseason ratings. The game last week against UNI should keep Iowa from coming into Ames overconfident as they always do.

However, if Iowa doesn't get a pass rush any better than against UNI then Austin Arnaud and the spread offense will pick them apart. ISU has the better kicking game - points are a plus. This is an "even" game in Ames. Don't see how Iowa can control this game, they're overrated.

i went to ISU also. and I almost ALWAYS bet on the 'clones at home (gotta love FGs lol).

Anyways, this year I'm leaning to IOWA. Just my opinion but I've been able to judge IOWA and ISU teams pretty well the last 5 years.
