Most of us know by know that multiple outs are a requirement for the serious sports bettor.I was inconvenienced by these attacks, but I was able to make all my bets with no problem. To those few that do not have multiple outs, these incidents are a wake-up call.

Agreed - I posted a comment like that yesterday about being able to get down with multiple books. Diversification = gratification.

Just make sure you dont play into the hands of the DDOSers and sign up for a shit book that was possibly sponsoring such attacks.

Funk-
I think it is a big leap to assume that another book is behind the attack (epecially if the motive is to reduce competition to get players).

In the past, when there were actual hacks into the computers, the most often claim I would hear was Russian programmers. The guys there are pretty much out of reach and have quite a pool of programming talent.

So, before we jump to conclusions, does anyone have ANY evidence that it was another sportbook?

Part of the blackmail may be for Pinnacle to keep quite or risk another attack. However, they should be able to contact WWTS or other books hit and compare notes (voices on phone recordings, ip addresses, etc.)

I'm sure if these guys could be identified, there are a few people in this business that wouldn't mind hopping on a plane to pay them a nice visit.

Pay them a visit somewhere in Russia?I doubt!
Russians are indeed the main problem, and there is nothing one can do to stop them,if somehow one is arrested, others will take his place very soon.
I dont think that there is any sportsbook behind these attacks, its an expensive way to get customers, and might fail to bring you more than a couple of stakes.

I just do not believe any sportsbook would be behind this. I'd be shocked if this was true. We may be off base on all of this, all any of us is doing is speculating.

Guess that's what makes the forums though, people voicing their opinions.

VG-
Well, Russia would be a stretch for a visit. But, for the kind of money involved here, I'm sure somebody could find someone already in Russia that could convey a message.

It's not like the bookmaking business hasn't ever leaned on a deadbeat player for a few hundred dollars. For the tens of thousands involved here, I think someone may have an interest in saying "Hello".
