Better get it soon!
I'll update as gametime approaches ...BUT...NO WAY does Army stop the UCONN offense.
Either Terry Caulley runs for 150 to 200 or Dan Orlovsky throws for 300 to 350........Most likely both will occur.
Both kids amazed me last week vs Ind. Try to stop the run(as did Ind) and Big O threw for 200 in 1st half....back off and TC ran for 130 in the second half breaking multiple tackles and carrying defenders on almost every play.
Underscore the fact that these 2 are Big time talents
ARMY gave up 40 ppg last year and returns 8 on D
Does that mean D will be better or remain as porous as last year.
Biggest factor ....in addition to being outmanned....is that ARMY, for the last 2 years, ranked close to the WORST in 1A in turnover ratio 112th and 105.
CT on the otherhand is a very opportunistic team having a +12 to ratio last year and was 3-1 vs Ind. they finished the last 6 games last year outscoring the opposition something like 84-0 off turnovers. My guess is that they force a few on Sat and score some pts off the turnovers
Given that I see something like 42-17.
More on injuries etc as game draws near.

agree on this one.the great thing about UCONN is that they are not going to let up.they are a HUNGRY football program looking for respect and this year they will get it.

i put `em up as the top play in my thread.....now,they are becoming a very, very public play.......

alot will depend on whether they look ahead to b.c...

but,it will have to be the mother of all look aheads for them not to score at will on this army "d"....

i keep thinking back to last year`s army-navy game....hard not to like the huskies....

this is usually where the public gets porked up the ying-yang without the courtesy of a wrap-around from your book...

still,it`s hard to cap a game, see one side so clearly and still sit on your hands...

if that`s the case, then you might as well quit capping.......

Respectfully disagree as I think the cat is out of the bag on UConn and the spread is overinflated. Army at home will never quit and this is a do or die year for Berry and his senior laden squad. I think this will be a shootout in the neighborhood of 47-35 UConn.

I took Army +17 (bought the hook).

I will also be playing the over if it is remotely reasonable.

I dont think Army will score that much on them.I am well aware of the fact that Army wont quite and is disciplined but i just think uconn continues to roll here!

I myself will wait until the line hits 19, 20.

I live right down the road from the Point so coverage/information is easily accessible.

Berry will have his troops ready!

Senior laden....
I believe he has 10 seniors?? actually a youthful squad...Todd Berry has not made a difference yet and his troops actually stunk it up last year.......especially on defense (40 per game) ..giving up what 58 to Navy......CT gave Navy 0 ...If Todd Berry has Army ready it will bbe with a team of lesser talent, size and athleticism and it will be the first time ready in quite some time... The spirit might be willing ...BUT.........

Can Army cover....sure ...on any given day ???...and I have already intimated that CT is vulnerable at the corners...and deep. CT lost the services of last years leading tackler Maurice Lloyd vs Ind.and the second leading tackler 2 weeks earlier so the D is not up to last years team that whitewashed Navy...But they did OK last week vs IND holding the Hoosiers to 300 total yds and registering 5 sacks.

15.5...16....thats an awful LOT of road points and I might add that in the last 6 home opener losses most were close with Cinn. Mia. Ohio, Holy Cross, and Marshall...but Army is on the slide while CT is fast rising. I think the value is with CT and the blue-chippers they are beginning to attract. Army will need to score 24 or more to cover this one. I don't see it..

Can Army cover?

Any team can cover on any given day.

Dont kid yourself. There is "some" talent on this year's Army squad.

In my opinion, Berry should have went with Zack Dahman, not Reggie Nevels. Dahman keeps his poise when the pocket begins to crack. Dahman is a slick pocket passer, steps up to avoid the on-coming pressure and has a rocket of an arm. Dahman fits and compliments the very talented wr combo of Alexander and White.

Depth is a concern when you discuss Army's rb position. If Jones goes down I dont feel his replacements are capable of holding down the point.

The offensive line returns Glover and thats it. HUGE CONCERN FOR BERRY! Might be the reason Berry went with Nevels. The kid can run.

The defensive line should improve now that Braithwait, Beasley, and Sullivan all have major game experiance under there belts. All three looked exceptional during spring practice.

The lb's sink and swim with team leader Ryan Kent. Kent led the team in tackles last year. Very solid player. Might be the best lb in Conf-USA nobody knows of.

Weaver, Lewis, and Brewer are probably the best db's Army has ever had. THESE KIDS CAN HIT-HIT-HIT.

Army is very experienced for a service academy. They usually lose a ton of starters.

Yes, I got it at +17 -120 (bought 1/2 point).

I don't think there are any 16.5's left on the board.

todays events
Took a nice ride up the "Hudson" today, over the BEAR Mountain Bridge, up 9W to beautiful SUN drenched Michie Stadium.... Yup, PRIME end zone seats....thats where I baked like a friggen potato today to bring you this first hand report on todays game.

Sooooo....here goes... The place was packed...LOTTA CT backers..(their legions are growing.... as in hoops...throughout the state...) There were marching cadets, marching bands, swarms of enthusiastic cadets ready to storm onto the field for pushups. There were parachutists who dropped to the 50 yd line with the game ball. There was a smoke and bagpipe entrance for this years Army football team... All this leading up to a confrontation with a team that has superior talent.(CT)

Well, CT won 48-21
Dan Orlovsky was 26-36 for 317yds and 5 td
Terry Caulley ran for over 100 (18-102) for the 6th straight game.

BUT......if ya saw the game ya gotta wonder.....somehow...what happened to their A game.
CT played 1 quarter real well offensively and 1 half real well defensively . They held Army to 0 yds rushing and Reggie Nevels to 57 yds passing in half one. Army had 4 1st downs and I dont think they got past the 50...
In the meantime...after a lethargic 1st Q CT opened up the passing for 28 points including some spectacular, athletic, after the catch moves by O'neil Wilson ....CT has some fine recievers.

Army switched quarterbacks and controlled play in the 3rd quarter with 2 sustained drives for touchdowns mixing run and pass and executing a successful onsides kick (credit the play of Zac Dahman...I think CT only ran 1 series (3 and out ) offensively, in the third quarter.
A little more Caulley and Orlovsky then the cadets could handle in the fourth.......BUT ..........OVERALL... They're going to need more than that for BC.

To Army's credit ...they did not FOLD they came back and bit the "Huskies" in Q3...A little look ahead....maybe

Coach Edsel's take "We got caught looking ahead a little. If we play hard for 60 minutes ..we're a good team...if not..we're just average."

Terry Caulley's take... " It feels good...it's a sloppy win...but we won."

So CT goes to what...18-5 in their last 23 ATS.. 6 in a row and I know they are waiting to test their mettle against BC...we'll see.

Overall...It was a good win for Ct. and $$$$$$$
