Advertising payments. This is the time of year where we will buy $7,000,000+ in advertising. Advertisers are jockying for the money. We make very difficult decisions this time of year - where to spend our money for the biggest bang. Some people will not be happy that we pick to spend our money elsewhere.

I believe this article and post are in retaliation for our not renewing with theprescription.com.

Alicia,

I took out some of the other stuff in your post because it had nothing to do with this topic about renewing and I wanted to just stick with this one area that you claim was the reason for my article yesterday.

We do NOT owe the Shrink anything. We had agreed with Marty (new owner of therx.com) to renew the contract, then re-thought it, and did NOT renew.

Mike Foreman, however, has been talking to the Shrink about renewing again (in last two days). My understanding is that they were VERY CLOSE to an agreement. But, after this retaliation, I don't know if Dalton will let him do it.

Since CREDIBILITY is everything in this industry, I'd like to respond to the above mentioned allegations made by VWAGER...

It should be very clear that VWAGER states that the reason for my article was in retaliation for them not renwing on TheRx.com.

This couldn't be any further from the truth, as an advertising deal between TheRx.com and VWAGER had been worked out THREE DAYS ago (See email below)...

Lastly, I did not write the article to single out VWAGER. I mentioned several other sports books that I know are experiencing some hardship in one way or another.

Rather than claim "FIRE," I warned gamblers that a "wait and see" approach was the best action to take at this time given the facts that were presented to me...

Ken,

Good talking to you yesterday. We should do it more often.

I just wanted to follow up w/ you w/ an e-mail confirming that we will be
sending the first 1/3 of what we owe you within the next 7 days (I guess
it's 6 now).

I want to make sure we get that out to you, then once we do, I'll let you
know exactly when you can expect the following to payments.

Please let me know if you need anything.

Thanks,

Mike

Fishhead,

ONLY in order to defend myself on some serious claims made by VWager regarding my credibility and motive, I found it necessary to post that email which was sent confirming that VWAGER was INDEED renewing on the site.

Well, I see that Alicia has made some incorrect statements that have allowed many to think Ken was doing this as retaliation.

I must say that he had privately shared this info earlier. Given the spin the original thread had taken and the damage to Ken's image provoked by Alicia's incorrect statements I can't blame him for going public with this piece of correspondence.

What had quickly been named "Kenny's job" now turns into the advertisers making deals, not respecting them and making incorrect statements to support their lies.

V-Wager's image is way less adamant today after the truth has surfaced.

It's good to see that the thinly-veiled shroud of "player protection" has been shed, and the dispute is beginning to focus on the core issue ... advertising dollars.

Funny that you struck an advertising agreement only 3 short days ago, because that was smack-dab in the middle of, and immediately after, all the "slow pays" that you are supposedly so concerned about. I guess "player protection" wasn't at the forefront 3 days ago, when V-Wager was about to sign on the dotted line.

With all the crap that was spewed in the other thread alot of people lost credibility, but one thing hasn't been discussed.

If Ken was aware of all these problems that V-Wager had why was he still negotiating their advertising contract for the upcoming season? He stated in the other thread that Gamblers here at the RX deserve to know the truth and be protected. Is that protection only necessary now that negotiations have fallen apart? Seems to me that if V-Wager had sent that first payment we would have never seen one negative word written here. So much for player protection huh?

Thank you TOW for the vote of conifidence...

Again, let me emphasize that it was not my intention to hurt good people...

Here is ALL the information that has surfaced involving VWAGER...

They are slow paying Millenium, Insiders Football News, Lindsey's and to boot, they were 70 days late making a 7k payment to the owners here...

Mike Foreman admitted to me that they were having some cash flow problems, a few gamblers also complained that they recently had difficulties collecting payouts (albeit only a few days) that they NEVER experienced before.

This week, MVP suddenly offers a 20% BONUS rather than the customary 10%.

A ghost suddenly appears defending them from within their office which they first adamently deny, then they say was an overzealous horse employee...

I felt and still do feel that these are enough warning sigms for gamblers to take a wait and see approach for the time being...

OK, so the Shrink is correct in accusing V-Wager of reneging on an advertising payment. But to say this was not spun in a way to unduly scare players is ludicrous.

When I first read Shrink's blanket statements I got scared and made a partial withdrawal from PlayersSB -- this was at the same time as Fishhead's client and so mine got delayed by one day as well. This is probably not a coincidence since I doubt I'm the only one who reacted to Shrink's first thread in this way.

Then he started the big thread with a much more factual account with names named and some facts given. That got me even more scared about my money but I had to give the Shrink credit for his openness.

Then V-Wager gave their side of the story and it became obvious that the key to this was revenge for the missed advertising payment. I suddenly became very relieved about my money being safe at V-Wager and disappointed in the Shrink for involving so many innocents in his little war.

There is no doubt in my mind that the Shrink's beef about the advertising money is legitimate, but it is also plainly clear that he went about it in a totally wrong and unprofessional way that in the end will do him and the Rx more harm than good.

Halifax,

I only learned about the slow pays AFTER the advertising deal had been worked out. FISHHEAD is one of the guys who informed me and he can validate this.

It would have been so much easier to say nothing and allow Marty to take the money.

Again, the main point I made in my article was to tread carefully with them and several other sports books...

Hardly a smear campaign...

Let me add.................

1. The first slow pay I have ever recieved regarding V-Wager this past week............however small!

2. The lowering of my PERSONAL limits to a maximum of $100 on everything after being with them for 5+ years!

My PERSONAL conclusion, as stated here MANY times in the last 24 hours.............I AM PROCEEDING WITH EXTREME CAUTION AND LOWERING MY BALANCE CONSIDERABLY OR GETTING OUT ALL TOGETHER SOON.

The rest of you can do whatever you want..........its your risk and your money!

HAVING SAID ALL OF THAT........I STILL BELIEVE THAT V-WAGER IS A STRONG FAVORITE to NOT stiff ANYBODY!!

But, the risks far outweigh the rewards for me at this time.

Darryl,

Perhaps you should REREAD the email sent to me by MIKE again. VWAGER never renigged. They were planning to continue advertising with us again, just as they always had been doing. We were all OK with this after it was explained to me by Mike that VWAGER needed some extra time to make payments...

Geez this is confusing...so they're continuing to advertise despite having said at least 3 times that they made a strategic decision not to!? I give up! It's making less and less sense as we go along! I think I'll just concentrate on what does make sense (which is I'm not sure what). I know...

1. Since you were only betting on their no-vig offerings, I would have went a step further and booted your chiseling ass.

2. If the 20% bonus scared you this much, I bet you must have to wear Depends every time they offer their 50% bonus ($250 for $500 deposit).
