I am looking for some advice here. If someone wants to write me at fadethedog@hotmail.com instead of posting here I would be happy to hear from you.
I was offered a job today for a decent sized sportsbook through a contact for the people that I do consulting with in CR. Its a bit of an open-ended job, basically aimed at being a business manager and doing some what-if type analysis. I would also be asked to assist with day-to-day stuff at times. The people were quite evasive about how much they wanted to pay and since I know the first rule in salary negotiation is to not give a price first I refused to say what it would take. From what I gather from talking to others they are definitely interested but are leery of getting someone that is not currently in CR and has a perfect feel for all that is going on there. Another person I talked to about it said I should go down there and negotiate with them and if I don't get an acceptable amount I probably could find something good elsewhere, but that sounded questionable as well. So I just ask about what type of pay do you think this role gets on average and do you think this role gets much visibility in all the books or does that go to the linemakers and supervisors more? I understand the industry and big picture issues for books quite well, its just I am not experienced in the hands on day-to-day issues and wonder if its a good fit for me.
Thanks for any advice.
