He just understands that what we have and what really counts comes from within ourselves and because of his disability he can project that more easily to those who are at least willing to listen.

I bet he has some seriously fucking tough days when the cameras aint on him tho.
Sometimes mental strength isn't enough to get you through the day.

Don't tell the haters on here (gtc08, punter, barman, bj21, fletcherism...)
that this guy is an internationally known successful evangelical preacher.

Zit I was saving that one but you spoiled the surprise. I was going to let some people comment before posting this:

Whatever works for him is fine. Whatever works for non-believers is fine as well. I posted this thread because it was moving, and maybe it would give us all something to agree on, not further divide the forum. Let's keep arguments over religion out of this thread.

Interesting that the people on here that oppose unwarranted war and torture but support individual rights, freedom of religion and seperation of church and state, are "haters". What in the hell are you fuckers that are on the other side of all those things.

Anti American in my book.

:nohead:

Not sure what you mean? I have always have said that religion has done many many good things and life as we know it today wouldnt have been possible without it. In fact, the Christian religion in particular has been at the forefront of this as they seem to be the most evolved out of the "majors". I dont dislike people for believing in such nor do i think they are unintelligent, i just find it illogical, and if you look at it through a logical point of view you would agree. Faith on the other hand makes this possible, i just dont have faith in something that is illogical, if you know what i mean. So i can be inspired by people like this even if i dont subscribe to the same religious beliefs as them. This is why im almost always on the right side of any argument.

Good stuff Scott L. And now for a little different kind of inspiration. Not trying to hijack your thread at all.

This is John Denver in 1986 in Ireland. It's a 6 part concert that is amazing, though I am posting what I think is the highlight.

Notice the crowds reaction specifically at around :50 and 3:20. Also John adds a verse in Gaelic (Irish) at 1:40. A very difficult and thoughtful touch. Enjoy.

Pubguy,

I'm probably one of the few other big-time John Denver fans
on here. My late mother was also a huge fan, and his music
reminds me of her... bitter-sweet.

Thanks for the post.

Hey FZ, sorry to hear about your mother.

I amazed how good Denver sounds live. I also have a mom connection with this video as my mother was born in Dublin and immigrated here in 1959. When I watch all the Irish kids singing along, I feel like I'm seeing my mom as a teenager.
