Haven't posted a play all bowl season because I haven't felt there was a game that I wanted to go out and advice someone out there to bet on. Not until this one here.
The angle everyone wants to look at this game from is from a motivation standpoint, and the obvious thinking would be that Ole Miss would come in with more fire because they have something to prove. I'm also on that wagon because of one fact: head coach Houston Nutt. Nutt didn't have a great bowl record at Arkansas, but there is no doubt he is one of the best HC motivators in football. This thought is supported by the Rebels stunning win in the Swamp, the sound beatdown they gave LSU in Baton Rouge, and the close loss in Tuscaloosa.
The Rebels come in as a dog one more time against a powerful Texas Tech offense. We all know about Graham Harrell and Michael Crabtree and the points the Red Raiders offense can put up, but one thing I want to focus on is the battle in the trenches between the TTU O-line and the Ole Miss front seven. One key stat people need to recognize is Ole Miss is 5th in the country in sacks. At the same time the red raider o-line has only given up 11 sacks on the year. If the Rebels can get pressure on Harrell like they constantly did all year on opposing QBs, this could be a bad bad way for Harrell to go out.
All this being said, I'm going to side with the team with more to prove with a great underdog minded coach. I'll be waiting on the public to pump the line up tomorrow morning. Right now it's 4 almost everywhere, I expect it to go up at least another .5 point if not a full point to 5. Will also be putting a little something on the moneyline as well.
Good luck to all.
