Both Teams to Score x Over 2.5 Goals (-105)

Monday Night Football of the British variety comes to us from the King Power Stadium as the Foxes play host to the Trees in a match of basement dwellers. And while some might see this as a game lacking the gravitas for the prime time slot, I’m actually projecting it as a downright dream match for casual supporters. Why you might ask?

BECAUSE THERE ARE GOALS COMING.

As they have been for nearly a year now anytime Leicester City takes the pitch because the reality that faces Brendan Rogers and his side is that they simply cannot defend. They’ve allowed the opposition to score 2+ goals in 6 of their 7 games so far this season, and dating back to last year BTTS has hit in 16/19 games, with totals involving the Foxes having seen more than 2.5 goals 14/18 times.

Suffice it to say Leicester is playing high-event, chaotic brand football on both sides of the pitch — which is fun to watch but ultimately very unsuccessful when the goalie in the net is maybe the worst keeper I’ve ever seen at this level. Now I know I have the tendency to be hyperbolic, but in this case, I’m not sure if I am —- Danny Ward has allowed -6.1 post-shot xG in 7 games. For context, a good season for a keeper consists of 30+ games and a round a -1 post-shot-shot xG.

So with the Trees seemingly guaranteed to find at least one goal, what about Leicester City? Will they have a chance to outscore their defensive woes? THEY MOST CERTAINLY WILL!

Because while Leicester has conceded the most goals (22, Forest is in 3rd last with 17) in the Prem so far this season, it is actually Forest who are conceding the most expected goals through 7 games. Which in some ways is understandable; Nottingham brought in enough faces to field an American football team, many of whom have not exactly hit the ground running. But at the top flight, the results are the results, and they’ve just not been good enough for Steve Cooper’s side. But perhaps after an international break, we’ll see a congealing of the lads, and a selection sheet that has their best 11 on it wouldn’t hurt either…

But whether or not Forest stays up is another conversation altogether! What they will do is score today, as will the Foxes, and I really can’t see a world in which at least one doesn’t score a pair, which would make this a great start to a new week!
