Lightning season tickets for next year will be the same price as one game at the ACC!!??

Almost 1,300 upper-level seats have been reclassified to be included in the $239 season-ticket package that averages out to $5.69, plus tax, per game. Nearly 20 percent of the arena's seats will feature that $239 designation and half-season packages in the same area will cost $149.

....of course this does mean you have to watch Tampa Bay play but hockey is hockey....even bad hockey.

heh...Something to think about for 2010-11

I have forsworn attendance at live sporting events for next 18 months while I focus on a new business project (save for a once a month 'reward' of TB Rays and any postseason Rays)

And those Rays games cost me a whopping $10 each for upper deck behind home plate with an excellent full screen view of the field. Comparable NYYankee seats are running about $2000 a game

With apologies to Visa:

Upper level seat to see the TB Rays, $10
Ballpark hot dog w/mustard, $3.50
Cold beer on a warm Florida day, $4.50
Not having to sit next to a bunch of Yankee fans, Priceless.

read in the paper today...

two tickets, two beers, two programs, and parking to a lightning game is almost $20 cheaper than the single cheapest ticket at GM Place.

and lightning hockey isn't bad... it's an exciting brand with some great talent up front... i'd be there every night!

Dig it...And I swear I'm not making this up

TB Lightning management has recently informed all workers at St Pete Times Forum (Ice Palace) that they no longer get parking comped on game nights.

Contrary to my previous post above, I might actually get loose on Sunday Mar 29 and see them play Ottawa (6pm start) for what would be my first TBL game of this season

Just a mid season slump but I'm getting my legs back for the stretch drive/playoffs. I'll make it a point to contribute a little more.

Go Caps. :103631605

Couldn't agree more. As I said before any NHL action is good hockey no matter what sweater they wear. Forget Lacavalier, St Louis, Stamkos....

5 bucks to see the likes of Ovechkin, Datsyuk, Kopitar, Malkin, Crosby, Kovalchuk, Iginla, Parise, et al has to be the greatest bargain in all sport. Hell pay the $239 for 41 games and sneak down to whatever seat you want.

I'm telling you if I had this kind of a deal my money would already be on the barrel.

So they will charge them to park!? That can't be correct. They must have a employee parking area.

No...Employees are paying to park ($6-10 per night)

Also pretty sure I heard, but can't confirm - that the Lightning did their last payroll for employees with hand delivered checks on Saturday morning because they couldn't guarantee payment on normal Friday.

Here's the parking story

http://www2.tbo.com/content/2009/feb/13/forum-start-charging-employees-parking/

TAMPA - Hundreds of workers at the St. Pete Times Forum got an unwelcome surprise this morning when they picked up their paychecks:

Included was a note from management saying it won't offer free employee parking starting March 1.

"You got to be kidding me," Bernice Robinson of Tampa said when she heard the news.

Blame the down economy, which now is trickling down to ticket sales. Average attendance for hockey games is down 10 percent to 20 percent this season.

The move affects 500 to 600 workers, many such as Robinson who work part time before and after events.

Robinson said she's paid $9 an hour as a housekeeping supervisor. At that rate, she'd have to work four hours to pay her parking tab. She plans to look for parking elsewhere.

The Tampa Bay Lightning, who operates the Forum, spelled out three options for employees – a $30 monthly pass, 10 one-day passes for $20 or a $5 one-day pass – to use the lot at Caesar Street and Channelside Drive.

Parking at the city-owned garage next door is $37 a month. The lots under the Selmon Crosstown Expressway charge $30 a month.

"This affects everybody in the building, especially the little people," said Robinson.

Shelli McNeal, another housekeeping worker, said she'll stop using the lot rather than pay. She'll ask her fiancé to drop her off and pick her up.

"I can't afford to lose $30. Losing $30 to me means putting less gas in my car, putting less food on the table and washing my clothes less. That $30 hurts," she said.

Lightning spokesman Bill Wickett said the team leases the Caesar employee lot for $250,000 a year and is asking employees to contribute only $1 a day toward parking.

"Unfortunately it's one of the hard decisions we've had to make," he said. "In a perfect world we'd have all the parking we need for our employees. But the fact of the matter is we're in a downtown environment and it's difficult to get access to a lot of land."

Tickets are this cheap and you claim to be a fan but havent went to one single game all season?? I am confused. Do you live far from the arena or something or?

I'm certainly a fan, but moreso of handicapping the sport. Watching on television is pretty satisfactory for me.

My live sports dollars go to MLB and the TB Rays (12 to 15 games per year past few seasons...though less this coming year due to priorities)
