holy molly....at the World Jr's ....was like watching a minor hockey AAA game in which one kid doesnt belong.

he broke pretty all Canadian World Hockey Jr Championship records and won Gold

to the Blackhawks? they dress the chaps selling the popcorn soon?

i havent seen this kid enough-- from what ive seen-- he has Marner play making skill and Austin's shot...im serious... he's 17 and was BY FAR the best player at The World's Jr's. Hopefully adds more height. SNIPER!!!!!!!!!!!!

yupper!!

he will be number #1

the question is -is he a generational talent ala McDavid/crosby or not?

imo he is way better than : Lefreniere and S Wright...not in the same fuckin league. Wright was his teammate at the World Jrs (drafted by Seattle ) and despite 2 yrs younger Bedard is miles ahead. Canada doesnt repeat as World Jr's if not for Bedard.

lots of pressure of this kid, will be interesting to see how it all unfolds

the Chicago Blackhawks have set themselves for failure WAY WAY ahead of time ( getting rid of Debricant , dach )...they want this kid. They r looking and praying someone takes Kane's contract lol

The Blackhawks can set themselves up for failure all they want, as the NHL's worst team, their odds of winning the draft lottery is less than 10%.

Obviously the NHL will ensure Bedard goes to Toronto out of sympathy, since Matthews is packing up and headed to California. LOL

Anaheim: zegras, mctavish, terry, bedard

Les Canadiens: caufield, suzuki, stafkovky, bedard

geez, solid cores for either team!! hope he doesnt go to Arizona !

9:12

need some SERIOUS confidence to try that !! both lines were gassed in OT

his shot is upper echelon NHL at age 17, lol...hopefully , as McDavid did , has a late growth spurt

Maybe, maybe not.

He's only 5'10 but does have generational talent and a Crosby-like work ethic.
Lol
Only 5'10?

We need to wait and see then. I just hope he will have a long career in the NHL and make all his fans happy for the years to come.

'The Blackhawks can set themselves up for failure all they want, as the NHL's worst team, their odds of winning the draft lottery is less than 10%.'

that seems very low, Joe. U sure?

'Out of these 15 drafts, the last place team has retained the first overall selection in fewer than half the drafts. Just seven times has this occurred, the other eight drafts have seen a different team select first overall.'

seems just under 50% historically, since the lottery inception

did they change how its done recently?

You're right, higher than 10% but not much.

"Chicago Blackhawks are trending for the highest odds of winning the NHL Draft Lottery with 18.5% odds, followed closely by the Anaheim Ducks (13.5) and the Columbus Blue Jackets (11.5%)."

It's a confusing convoluted ever-changing system.

What's interesting is the Montreal Canadians currently have TWO lottery picks, their own and Florida's giving them two kicks at the can, so their chances of landing Bedard are very good - or two excellent prospects since this is a deep draft.

Another kid to keep an eye on is Russia's Matvei Michkov. Russia was expelled from the tournament so nobody got to see him play, but he's a generational talent just like Bedard. Michkov may or may not have bumped Bedard out of the top spot with his electrifying skill at the world juniors, but those two will certainly provide a most interesting 1-2 punch atop the board. So the team that lands the #2 pick shouldn't be too disappointed.

It's a deep draft.

ha, the good old Florida Panthers went all in last yr, didn't end well. Kudos to the Habs. They go into -'throw in the towel mode' soon, actually think it already has started. They and Anaheim have a core that adding a Bedard? yikes.......

good point on Michkov, saw him at the U18 Wolrd Championships, he was 16 and Bedard was 15. They met in the final, both were named 1st team all-stars. The talk after that tourney was them going 1-2 in the 2023 draft. Fantilli didnt help himself at this World Jrs imo. Thye dropped him to the 3rd line and he had little pp time.

here's a projected draft;

...................................

need Russia back at these tourneys, they r an iconic hockey nation, just not the same without them

Hawks are set to unload Kane and Toews for a massive haul, and then if they land Bedard or Michkov, which is extremely likely, they will be set for another decade long run.

Unreal!

i sure hope the Leafs dont go after either, geez...Kane is not what they need NO WAY. I'd liek Bedard to go to either Chicago or Montreal, original 6!!

if anything if im the Leafs brain trust, its kinda now or never aint it? is it panic time? lol , i think it is . FULL fuckin kudos with the goalie moves, best wishes to Edmonton with Campbell! that dude is the definition of hot and cold. I'd go after either Horvat or Ryan O'Reilly . To get a defensive wiz like O'Reilly? (assuming the Blues call it quits). 3rd line center! good to go! I would not touch the 1st two lines and please dont put marner back with matthews! tavares needs marner more than Austin

leafs have no scoring punch on the 3rd/4th lines, which is understandable as the cap just slowly drains ..1st Hyman then Mikheyev- losing Mikheyer really hurt!! cant replace that kind of speed and was part of SH group. Those 3rd/4th lines need to grind away, amd im good with that. top heavy team, obviously any major injury to the top 4 and KAPUT

impressed with Timmons, hopefully, to repalce Holl in time . Holmberg might pan!! has good speed and not afraid to go the net,
Giordano makes any dee partner better, despite clearly losing a step at 39 ...what a player

Patrick Kane to Edmonton. Oilers have the top two scoring leaders in the league and somehow still can't win. LOL So now they're going all-in on Patrick Kane! Good luck!

Ryan O'Reilly to Toronto. But it won't matter. Your Leafs are toast, Ricboff.

You're not beating Boston and Tampa with those goalies and soft D.

Auston will be leaving for California shortly to be closer to home and to his girlfriend, who lives and works in LA. But don't be sad, if there's one guy who dogs it on the ice and loves golfing in the spring with no appetite for those long grinding playoff runs it's Matthews. Lazy AF - all he cares about is $$$! So get yourself a real GM who will maximize his trade value. That slick-talking beta nerd with glasses ain't cuttin' it either.
