What a wide-open conference race this has turned out to be. A seriously flawed Pittsburgh team beats South Florida by 5 on the road as a 13.5 point underdog. Wow.

I need to know about West Virginia. Colorado and East Carolina are not bad teams, who is West Virginia in 2008? Is this still a dominating offense or have they been exposed? Does the Mountaineer secondary have holes that Kenny Britt, Tiquan Underwood, and Tim Brown can expose? I need some help here. As a Rutgers fan it is easier to play Russian Roulette than to pick Rutgers ATS over West Virginia in any game, especially at Morgantown.

After what we saw from Pittsburgh last night, is Rutgers +14 a bargain? I don't know. I have literally no idea what I am going to do with this game.

UCONN will win the East.

Love RU but the feeling here is WVU will cover that 14, WVU has too many weapons.

Not playing the game though, my money is on UCONN +7.5 now.

Big East winner is going to play BYU, Utah, or Boise St. in their BCS game. Im actually rooting for Pitt, Wanny's horrible but for some reason I find myself rooting for him.

West Virginia is shaky shaky in the secondary. Marshall missed open receiver after open receiver. If Teel can capitalize, they should cover easily.

Offense is going back to the bread and butter running game, throwing in some nice wrinkles with trick plays and two QB sets. The backup Brown has real talent. Play calling has improved every week as has the team.

Over is my play, WVU should give up plenty and the improving offense will put some on the board.

Rutgers 27

Jay...

I disagree with just about everybody in this thread so far. This is a game to lay off. I understood when you were saying a few weeks ago that you would lay 7 or less, but this is a big number. I gave you my feeling earlier in the year on Rutgers and don't want to piss you off again, but I think that there were a lot of smoke and mirrors going on the last few years. Mike Teel is bad.

Now for WVU. There is a leadership in town that most people are not happy with. Bill Stewart is in over his head. The clock management at the end of the Colorado was a joke. You've got a young defense that has only alowed 24 points as a high this year. You've got Pat White at QB and Noel Devine at RB and you only score 3 points at ECU? What? He brought in a OC that wants to install this "motion spread" offense that he used at Wake Forest. It has not worked out so well this year. The defense is playing excellent. If Reed Williams chooses to continue to play (could take medical redshirt because of hurt shoulder) this defense could put up numbers very similiar to last years. They are young, but very fast. Rutgers will have 200 plus through the air as WVU allows a ton of underneath balls with the 3-3-5 that they run, but seem to tighten up when needed.

As for my play on this one. I will be laying off. With the uncertainty that of WVU offense (can't believe I'm saying that), I see no clear play. This offense could score 10 or it could score 45. The 50+ days are probably over.

One thing for sure. Rutgers probably wants this game more than any on its schedule. Currently a 13 game losing streak to WVU. They want this broken.

This would be a very unlikely scenario....these two teams will be picked last but wont be match up against one another. One will play SEC Champ/Alternate in the Sugar, the other will play ACC Champ in the Orange. Fiesta and Rose grab the first picks this year and would not be interested in either.

My personal guess:

Sugar
WVU (They improve enough to win conf. game at the end)
Florida

Orange
Clemson/Wake winner next week.
BYU

WVU has the potential to put up the points, they just can't because Stewart has them overthinking their system that worked so well last season. Minus Slaton and Owens is proving to be a much bigger hole this year than expected. This one will be close. Neither team has much to play for but what little respect is to be taken with the way the Big East Conference has played so far. WVU 28 Rutgers 27.

WVU is a much different team at home, they lost at a strong Colorado team due to horrible clock management, and a missed chip shot. The ECU game was a different story, WVU didnt wake up to play in that game until very late, and still failed to score. WVU came to NC after beating Nova high schol , and everyone thought that game would be pushed back due to hurricane Ike. Everyone except the Pirates who were coming off an emotional high beating v tech.

~ Bottom line Rutgers is bad, really bad. WVU is not the same because the coach in morgantown is a laid back piece of shit who will never get on his guys, or get them ready for big games. I do think the crowd in Morgantown will provide enough spark to the players motavation regardless of the coach. WVU wins big imo, regardless of a bad secondary, a bad coach, and a hurt pat white.

Rutgers - 17 West Viriginia - 45
