Retro Picks

The Orange Bowl during the Johnson/Erickson regimes. 58 straight home wins. Teams knew they were going to lose when they walked into that stadium.

The Swamp during the Spurrier years. Something like 2 or 3 home losses in 12 years. Tough to beat the ol' ball coach in his back yard.

Perry,

As a Gator fan, I can't wait for Ben Hill Griffin Stadium (aka The Stadium FORMERLY Known a "The Swamp") gets back to being "The Swamp" again!!! Coach Zook turned UF's home field advantage into a complete joke in just three years w/SIX losses in three years at home! That's almost as bad as LSU's alledged "home field advantage"! I think Coach Meyer will do the job! It's a wonderful place for college football!!!!

Why are they still using Three Rivers as the Pittsburgh Panthers stadium. Three Rivers hasn't been around for 4 years.

Dunno... how many years did FSU go without losing a game at home in the mid to late 90s?...

AFL,

FSU had a heck of a run. So did Miami (something like 56 games). UF lost to FSU 2 times under Spurrier, once to Alabama, once to Auburn, and to UT (Spurrier's last game at home).

UF, however, IS 1-0 at Bobby Bowden Field!!!

Very funny... Gotta be one of the longest named stadiums out there... Bobby Bowden Field at Doak Campbell Stadium

There was NO doubt in my mind that the Gators were winning that game in November... my roommates called me nuts... And there was never a doubt after the first couple Gator plays of the game that they were winning... But I'll say this... As a Nole for YEARS, I was happy to see Zook get his big game before going off to Illinois. I hated Florida for years because of Steve Spurrier, but unlike Miami, most Noles will tell you that they love to hate Florida... We just hate Miami.. big difference...

We'll get ya back in the Swamp this year... don't worry.

True, dont understand that, and I believe Pitt only played at Three Rivers for one season, using Pitt Stadium many years before that.

Sounds like the poll was heavily weighted with the redneck southern football media. Kind of the same people that gave the 'national championship' to Fla. St. ove rNotre Dame even though ND beat FSU and they each had same record.
Three Rivers Stadium is home to Pitt football? Pitt Stadium was only around for about 60 years and TRS was blown up 4 years ago! In the 31 years of its existence they did play about 3 Pitt games at Three Rivers.

Redneck Southern Football Media? The same guys that voted for OU instead of Auburn to play USC?

Sorry Oklahoma but it doesn't get any more "red" than the state of Alabama.

There is no doubt there is bias here, because the top stadiums have been reinvated, the true classic stadiums like ann arbor and oregons field have stayed the same. True for Decades

The big house is a classic. 107,501 seats and an average attendance last year of 111,025. Plus it was built in I believe 1927.

Husky stadium is a joke

The biggest problem with this list is the inclusion of husky stadium...
There is a nice view of the Lake but the stadium is not loud. They don't even sell it out anymore. Pathetic.
You are a very long way from the field with that track in the way and they have ugly cheerleaders to boot.

Since no one else has mentioned it, I'll cast my vote for Beaver Stadium (I'm a Penn State grad). It sits in the middle of nowhere and six saturdays a year close to 100 thousand people from all over the state travel to University Park. The sight of the RV's and all the grills and the view of Nittany Mountain is one I'll always remember. It's just too bad the team sucks.........

It is too bad. The only thing worse is that your next coach will be Houston Nutt, who has 2 years MAX left at the U of A.
